Paris Saint Germain vs Saint-Etienne Match Prediction

By Marius Hrebenciuc

Paris Saint Germain and Saint-Etienne will square off at the Parc des Princes on Friday night, with both sides looking to continue their perfect start to the new Ligue 1 season. Paris Saint Germain head into this tie on the back of a ridiculous 6-2 home win over Toulouse last weekend thanks to a brace from Neymar and four other goals from Adrien Rabiot, Edinson Cavani, Javier Pastore and Layvin Kurzawa. Meanwhile, Saint-Etienne won 3-0 at home over newcomers Amiens thanks to a brace from Bryan Dabo and a penalty-goal from Jonathan Bamba. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news and match stats all in our SBAT preview.

Betting Predictions and Tips

This should be another easy win for PSG despite Saint-Etienne’s strong start to the season. Paris Saint Germain are undefeated in 14 meetings with Saint-Etienne and they managed to beat Les Verts 5-0 in the most recent game between these two. Furthermore, PSG have scored at least four goals in three of their last five home meetings with St. Etienne.

Paris Saint Germain Preview

Paris Saint Germain had a tremendous start to the new Ligue 1 campaign which culminated with an incredible 6-2 home win over Toulouse last weekend. Neymar is definitely a great acquisition, as the Brazilian star has already scored three goals and he also provided two assists for Les Parisiens in his two league appearances. PSG have looked incredibly strong in front of goal in this early part of the season, having scored at least two goals in each of their opening three league fixtures and they also netted two against Monaco in the French Super Cup. Unai Emery’s men sit comfortably at the top of the Ligue 1 table tied on nine points with Monaco and Saint-Etienne, and they are the league’s top goalscorers at the moment with eleven strikes under their belts. Edinson Cavani and Neymar have been PSG’s most prolific players in front of goal in this early part of the season, as the pair have bagged six goals and five assists between them. At home, PSG didn't lose a single game last term, and they have also won their both home fixtures this season, which means they are currently on a 21-game unbeaten streak. In addition, Les Parisiens are undefeated in the last seven home meetings with Saint-Etienne across all competitions, winning five in the process.

Paris Saint Germain Team News

Lucas and Grzegorz Krychowiak are both doubts ahead of this tie.

Saint-Etienne Preview

Meanwhile, Saint-Etienne have also had a solid start to the new Ligue 1 season, having won each of their opening three games. The most impressive thing is that Saint-Etienne have kept a clean sheet in each of these and they are the only team in Ligue 1 that haven’t conceded a single goal in this early part of the season. Les Verts have proved to be very efficient in front of goal as they have already managed to score five goals in this early part of the season despite having created fewer goalscoring attempts than most of the Ligue 1 sides. Away from home, St. Etienne were winless in three away league games prior to their 0-1 victory over Caen in their most recent league trip. Actually, they have won just three of their last nine away games in Ligue 1. Furthermore, Saint-Etienne are winless in their last seven visits to the Parc des Princes since a 1-2 victory back in November 2012. Jonathan Bamba and Bryan Dabo have both enjoyed a decent start to the new campaign, as they bagged two goals each in their three league appearances.

Saint-Etienne Team News

Kevin Monnet-Paquet is a doubt, but Florentin Pogba is out through an ankle injury. The good news is that Vincent Pajot is back in training following his thigh injury.
