Orlando City vs New York City FC Match Prediction

By Gary Gillles

Orlando City’s winless run extended to four games after the club could only get a 1-1 draw with San Jose Earthquakes. Despite both teams having reasonable chances, the opening goal did not come until the 80th minute. Orlando took the lead through Carlos Rivas, but their joy did not last long as Chris Wondolowski scored the equaliser in the 83rd minute. New York City’s three-game unbeaten run came to an end with a 2-1 loss against Real Salt Lake. Sean Okoli’s goal after just four minutes seemed to hint at another thrashing for Real Salt Lake, but the home team managed a great comeback with Albert Rusnak and Aaron Maund scoring the goals either side of the break.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Orlando City are struggling for results and the club would welcome a return to home comforts. The club are unbeaten in the six games at the Orlando City stadium. They have conceded only four goals and scored 10 at this ground this season. New York City’s two away wins have been against teams that were struggling for form at that moment. The club has failed to win any of the last six meetings with Orlando City, who have won five out of the last six games against New York City. Hence, I would back an Orlando success. Cyle Larin appears to enjoy playing against New York City. He has a whopping nine goals in seven appearances against this opponent. Larin has scored in three out of the last five home games for Orlando. I would back Larin to score anytime.

Orlando City win – 6/5

Cyle Larin to score anytime – 6/5

Orlando City Preview

Orlando City’s excellent start to the campaign has well and truly come to an end following a winless run that now stretches to four games. Even though the club were expected to struggle on the road, manager Jason Kries would have been hoping to ride on the excellent start to the season. Yet, Orlando have now managed just a solitary away win in five games. There have been positives for the club like the return of Kaka, but the availability of key players has not translated into results. Kaka has had a positive start to the 2017 MLS season after scoring three goals in his last five games.

Orlando City Team News

Kevin Alston (knee) is the only player on the sidelines for Orlando City.

New York City FC Preview

New York City’s struggles on the road briefly seemed to disappear after back-to-back wins over Philadelphia Union and Columbus Crew. However, they have only turned out into a false dawn, as the club continue to be heavily reliant on results at the Yankee stadium. At home, the club quickly recovered from the defeat against Orlando City to get a 3-1 win over Atlanta United in the last match. One of the reasons for the club’s dip in form is top scorer David Villa, who has six league goals this season, scoring just once in the last three games.

New York City FC Team News

Ronald Matarrita (ankle) and Khiry Shelton (muscle) are the players unavailable for New York City due to injuries.
