Nottingham Forest vs Wolverhampton Wanderers Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Saturday afternoon (15:00) game features two sides currently in the top ten of the Championship. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats. Nottingham Forest put a couple of recent defeats behind them with a 1-0 victory at Sunderland in midweek. They had a Daryl Murphy goal to thank for all three points though the statistics suggest they were a little lucky to come away with the win. Wolves were involved in a six-goal thriller with Bristol City that ended in a 3-3 draw. Wanderers twice went ahead before pegged back and were behind with eight minutes to go before rescuing a point. The goals were spread around the team with Leo Bonatini, Diogo Jota and Danny Batth all netting one each. The Black County outfit are unbeaten in their last five meetings with Forest and won both meetings last season winning 1-0 at Molineux and 2-0 at the City Ground.  Four of their last six battles have gone under 2.5 goals with the two that had gone over close to the mark as they only produced three goals each.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Wolves are the favourites for this game despite being the away side and this is probably fair given how strong they are though Forest are a difficult side to beat at home so I would be avoiding the match markets for my bets. This looks a tough game to call so a couple of goalscorer plays looks the best option here. For the visitors, I like the look of Matt Doherty who is given licence to get forward from full-back especially like in midweek if they play three at the back.  He goes off at double-figures to score anytime. Ben Osborn is always a threat from the wings and often shows well in shots at goal data so I think the Forest player also look a decent bit of value to net at any time.

Nottingham Forest Preview

It has been a good start to the season for the Tricky Trees who have taken 12 points from their seven games so far. Victory last time out put to an end a run of two straight defeats though this marks the start of a difficult five game run. At home, they have taken six points from a possible nine defeating Millwall and Middlesbrough and losing against top-of-the-table Leeds. Goals seem scarce at the City Ground with six from their three so far which is an average of two per game. They have netted ten league goals this season with four of them coming from Daryl Murphy who has got just one of these in front of his own fans. They have shipped 11 goals this campaign though just three of these have come at their own ground.

Nottingham Forest Team News

Jamie Ward (calf) and David Vaughan (groin) are both rated doubtful.

Wolverhampton Wanderers Preview

After seven games, it is 14 points from Wolves who look like being one of the sides in the promotion race this season. It is just one defeat from their last eight for Wanderers who have though drawn two of their last three. On the road, they have done well with victories at Derby and Hull and a draw with Brentford picking up seven points from a possible nine. Wolves have kept a clean sheet in two of these and shipped two in the other while netting five themselves. Leo Bonatini and Diogo Jota have netted three goals each with the Midlands outfit netting 11 for the season. They have shipped seven times this season but just two of these have come on their travels.

Wolverhampton Wanderers Team News

Carl Ikeme (hamstring), Kortney Hause (knock), Helder Costa (ankle), Wily Boly (hamstring) and Phil Ofosu-Ayeh (hip) are all set to miss out.
