Nottingham Forest vs Reading Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Tuesday evening (19:45) Championship fixture features two sides in the bottom five of the Championship form table. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Nottingham Forest put to an end a four-game losing run in all competitions with a point in a goalless draw at Burton last time out. Their task was not made easy after having had Eric Lichaj dismissed in the 28th minute. Reading had the weekend off and were last in action on February 10th when they lost 2-1 at Middlesbrough. Chris Martin grabbed his first goal for the Royals on that occasion since his loan move from Derby. The reverse fixture came on the last day of October in Berkshire and the Royals won on that occasion 3-1. Jon Swift grabbed a brace for the home team while Sone Aluko got one with Ben Osborn getting a late consolation for the visitors.

Betting Tips and Predictions

It is difficult to side with either side given their struggles though what is clear that this will be a low-scoring game. Forest have two goals in their last six and Reading have four so NO in the both teams to score looks an obvious angle. Under 2.5 goals is short enough but Under 1.5 goals looks not to have been reduced enough so take a small play on this.

Nottingham Forest Preview

After victory over Wolves it seemed like Aitor Karanka was in for a good time as boss of the Tricky Trees but since they have taken just one point from four. They sit in 17th place eight points above relegation with each of their next three against teams currently in the bottom ten. At the City Ground, it has been five straight defeats with only Burton (11) having lost more home games. It is now five successive home blanks for the East Midlands outfit and six in their last seven. It is four league games in a row without a goal for Nottingham Forest who have netted just two times in their last nine. At the other end of the pitch only three teams in the division have conceded more than the 50 they have shipped.

Nottingham Forest Team News

Eric Lichaj will miss the game through suspension while Jamie Ward (hamstring) is a doubt.

Reading Preview

Just one victory from their last 11 fixtures means that the Royals are involved in the relegation battle a season on from making the play-off final. They sit in 18th place and face a tricky run with three of their next four coming against teams in the top eight. Away from the Madejski Stadium, they have won one of their last six though they have lost just three of their last nine. They have managed 14 road goals from their last eight on their travels. Just two of the last eight Reading have played in the Championship have gone over 2.5 goals with seven of the last ten featuring exactly two or three goals. Just nine of the 34 they have scored this season came in the first-half.

Reading Team News

Callum Harriott, John Swift, Axel Andresson and Paul McShane (all hamstring), Joe Mendez, Stephen Quinn (both knee) and Tommy Elphick (calf) are doubts. Jordan Obita is out for the remainder of the season with a cruciate ligament problem
