Nottingham Forest vs Reading Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Saturday afternoon (15:00) fixture features two sides in search of their first victory of the season. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats. Nottingham Forest have started the season with two draws being held on Tuesday night 1-1 by West Brom despite taking the lead through an Adlene Guedioura goal they were pegged back three minutes from time and had to settle for a point. They also drew their opener 1-1 at Bristol City with Daryl Murphy getting their goal. Reading seemed on course for a deserved point in their opener but a late Derby goal meant they suffered a 2-1 loss. They had taken a 52nd minute lead through Jon Dadhi Bodvarsson but could not hold out. The meeting at the City Ground between these side last season came in February and it ended in a 1-1 draw. It continues a trend that has seen the road side fail to win any of their last six head-to-heads.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Nottingham Forest should register their first victory of the season but given the prices on offer I would be looking to enhance it. The East Midlands outfit have shipped in their last two and Reading do have some pace on the break so back Forest to win the game and both teams to score makes sense. Lewis Grabban is playing well and must be due a goal soon as he is averaging 2.5 shots per game over two fixtures and I like him to net at any time here.

Nottingham Forest Preview

Considering this season and last season the Tricky Trees are now four unbeaten at home though the last two have finished all-square. They have shipped just three goals in their last six in front of their own fans. Both teams to score has happened in both games the East Midlands outfit have played this campaign. Three of the four goals in their matches this campaign have come in the second-half. In both their fixtures this season Nottingham Forest have created more chances than their opponents. Joe Lolley is averaging 3.5 shots per game and has yet to net while Lewis Grabban has also yet to net and is averaging 2.5 per game.

Nottingham Forest Team News

Hillel Soudan (fitness) is a doubt ahead of this match.

Reading Preview

The Royals lost their opener which means they are now six without a victory in Championship fixtures. They have netted just once in their last four though that did come this season. On the road, the Berkshire outfit are eight without a victory and have failed to find the back of the net in their last four. Last season they managed just five road victories losing on 12 occasions from 23 matches. If you include last season four of the last five that Reading have played in the league have gone over 2.5 goals. 20 of the 46 that they played last season were level going into the interval.

Reading Team News

Axel Andresson (ankle) is a doubt while Chris Gunter (thigh), Jordan Obita (cruciate) and Garath McCleary (broken ankle) are unlikely to feature.
