Nottingham Forest vs Queens Park Rangers Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Saturday afternoon (15:00) fixture features two sides outside the play-offs but hoping to climb in. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Nottingham Forest are now without a win in two but will be happy with a point at local rivals Derby last time out. It ended in a goalless draw and although not having much possession it was Forest who looked closest to scoring.

QPR ended a four-game winless run by bouncing back to form and defeating Middlesbrough 2-1. Pawel Wszolek was our selection for first goalscorer and he did the business while Nahki Wells also netted.

These two sides produced a total of 11 goals in their two meetings last season both of which were won by the East Midlands outfit. It finished 5-2 to the Tricky Trees at Loftus Road and 4-0 at the City Ground.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Nottingham Forest are favourites to win this game and while they are the most likely winners a tendency to draw (a league high 11 this season) means I could not be backing them here. QPR are a hit and miss side who could do something but at the odds I would not trust them to do so.

I would recommend a couple of plays instead on goalscorers with Joe Lolley looking a good shout for the hosts. He has two in his last five games and was closing to breaking the deadlock on Monday night.

Another player I like the look of features for the visitors and that is Luke Freeman who has two in his last four. He is given licence to get beyond the front man as part of a three on the road.

Nottingham Forest Preview

It has been a mixed bag of late for Forest who have one win, two draws and one defeat from their last four. They sit in seventh just one place and one point outside the top six and are sure to be among the promotion hopefuls deep into the season.

At the City Ground, it is the same set of mixed results with two victories, two draws and two defeats from the last six. The East Midlands outfit are involved in low-scoring games at their own place with a total of four goals from the last four.

Nottingham Forest would be down in 11th if the Championship was decided on the scores after 45 minutes leading just six times at the break. Just 11 of their 32 goals has come before half-time.

Nottingham Forest Team News

Hilel Soudani (knee) Danny Fox (foot) and Juan Rafael Fuentes (also knee) are doubts though Tobias Figueiredo is available after suspension. Sam Byram (ankle) is a long-term absentee.

Queens Park Rangers Preview

The Rs are also showing mixed form with two victories, two draws and two defeats in the last six. They sit 13th in the table though this has them just four points behind Boro and five from the top six.

Away from Loftus Road, the London outfit are without a win in four though two of these have finished all-square. They have netted at least once in the last three on the road and five of the last six.

QPR would be as high as seventh in a table that just took into account the scores after 45 minutes. 15 of the 27 goals in the league this campaign have come before the interval which is over 50%.

Queens Park Rangers Team News

Grant Hall,  Angel Rangel (both thigh), Tomer Hemed (groin) and Geoff Cameron (ankle) are doubts while Olamide Shodipo (thigh) is a long-term absentee.
