Nottingham Forest vs Preston North End Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Saturday afternoon (15:00) fixture features two sides in opposite halves of the Championship table. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Nottingham Forest stretched their unbeaten run to seven matches following a 2-0 victory over Ipswich at the weekend. Lewis Grabban netted a brace to give the East Midlands outfit a deserved three points.

Preston saw their nine-game unbeaten run come to an end last weekend as they lost 3-0 at Birmingham. The Lancashire outfit can have few complaints about the scoreline as they were second best throughout.

These two sides have drawn three of their last four meetings with Preston winning the other clash. The Lilywhites are unbeaten in their last two and have lost just one of their last five visits to the City Ground.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Nottingham Forest have won two of their last three and five of their last eight at home and I like them here to beat Preston. North-End are without a number of key first-teamers and they looked out of legs when losing 3-0 at Birmingham.

Lewis Grabban is on fire in the goals market but the prices reflect this so instead take a look at Joe Lolley to score at any time.

Nottingham Forest Preview

The Tricky Trees have taken 15 points from the last 21 on offer to move themselves into the top six. They sit fifth in the league table though bookmakers are overlooking them and have them eighth favourites for the title.

At the City Ground, they have lost just once this season and that came against leaders Norwich City. Just one of the next six the East Midlands outfit are playing at their place is against a top eight team.

Lewis Grabban is their main source of Nottingham Forest goals this season with 14 scored including five in the last three. Eight of the 14 Grabban has netted have been the first goals while four of the six Joe Lolley has scored have been openers.

Nottingham Forest Team News

Hilel Soudani (knee) Danny Fox (foot) and Juan Rafael Fuentes (also knee) are doubts while Sam Byram (ankle) is a long-term absentee. Tobias Figueiredo will miss the second of his three game suspension.

Preston North End Preview

The Lilywhites have still lost just one of their last ten but a tendency to draw too many means they are still at the wrong end of the table. They sit 18th in the table with bookmakers having them as eighth favourites for the drop.

Away from Deepdale, they have won just one of their last five though they have also lost just once with three of these finishing all-square. Just one of their next eight on the road is against a team in the current top eight.

Callum Robinson is their leading goalscorer with nine goals though he is a fitness doubt to start here.  Alan Browne has been leading the line in his absence and he has bagged two in his last three.

Preston North End Team News

North-End have a number of injuries with Callum Robinson, Sean Maguire (both hamstring), Daniel Johnson (thigh), Billy Bodin and Josh Harrop (both knee) are all expected to miss out.
