Nottingham Forest vs Leeds United Match Prediction

By Gary Gillles

This Saturday early evening (17:30) game from the City Ground features two sides who have made a strong start to the season. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Nottingham Forest continued their good start after seeing off highly-fancied Middlesbrough 2-1 at the City Ground thanks to a goal each from Barry McKay and Darryl Murphy (penalty).  In the League Cup, they claimed the scalp of Premier League side Newcastle with a 3-2 victory thanks to a brace from Jason Cummings and an extra-time winner from Tyler Walker.

Leeds were also victorious in their last Championship game to the Stadium of Light and defeating Sunderland 2-0 with a goal each from Stuart Dallas and Samuel Saiz.  In midweek, they eased into the next round of the League Cup beating Newport 5-1 with a Kemar Roofe hat-trick and one each from Samuel Saiz and Ronaldo Vieira Nan.

The two fixtures between this pair last season both ended in victories for the home side with the game at the City Ground 3-1 and the one at Elland Road 2-0. Six of the last seven scored in their meetings have come in the second 45 minutes.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Leeds have made a strong start to the season and I think they might be dark-horses for the automatic promotion slots as some of the early favourites have shown signs of needing time to gel.  That being said Forest must be backed here at the prices they have looked excellent at their own ground and you can either take them straight up victory or for the more cautious minded with the draw no bet.

The East Midlands outfit hit three past Newcastle in midweek, got four against Brentford, two against Middlesbrough and look capable of getting two or more here with a wealth of attacking talent.

Nottingham Forest Preview

Three victories from four starts has been a strong start to the season and although early the signs are encouraging that Mark Warburton and his team will not be battling against relegation in this campaign.

At home, they have defeated Millwall (1-0) and Middlesbrough (2-1) while also winning their final two league games last season at the City Ground. Barry McKay has netted in both of his game in Nottingham since completing his summer move from Rangers.

Five of their six fixtures played in all competitions for Forest this season have gone over 2.5 goals with two of them going over 3.5. Each of their six have seen at least one goal netted in the opening 45 minutes.

Nottingham Forest Team News

David Vaughan (groin) is listed as day-to-day while Jamie Ward (calf) will miss another few weeks.

Leeds United Preview

It is six unbeaten in all competitions this season for Leeds with two wins and two draws from their four league games. After the international break, they have three winnable looking fixtures including two straight at Elland Road.

On the road, they have won both league games defeating Bolton 3-2 and Sunderland 2-0. A feature of these games is early goals with both seeing a strike in the opening 21 minutes and five of the seven scored coming in the first-half.

Following the sale of Chris Wood other players must step up and grab goals though the signs are positive with Samuel Saiz netting four in all competitions and Kemar Roofe netted three in midweek in the League Cup.
