Nottingham Forest vs Brentford Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Tuesday evening (19:45) fixture features two sides in opposite halves of the Championship table.  Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Nottingham Forest are now without a victory in five following their 2-0 loss at Middlesbrough at the weekend.  The expected goal data shows little to choose between the sides but the Teesiders were more clinical with their finishing.

Brentford made it back-to-back victories with a 1-0 defeat of Ipswich at Griffin Park on Saturday.  A Neal Maupay penalty gave the Bees a deserved three points and kept alive their play-off hopes.

The reverse fixture came in August and Forest won an absorbing contest 4-3 thanks to a brace from Andreas Bouchalakis and one each from Kieran Dowell and Daryl Murphy.  John Eagen, Andreas Bjelland and Neal Maupay netted for the London side who saw their three-game head-to-head success come to an end.

Betting Tips and Predictions

I think Brentford look worth chancing here as Forest are five without a goal while the Bees always carry a goal threat.  The home side have little to play for while the visitors need three points to keep alive their play-off hopes and I think they can do so here.

Given that the East Midlands side have failed to net in their last five and the London outfit have gone two without conceding the odds on a Brentford clean-sheet look generous.

Nottingham Forest Preview

It is now two straight defeats for Forest and five without a victory as a flat season comes limping to an end.  They are in 17th place and nine points above the relegation zone and should have enough to be safe.

At the City Ground, they are unbeaten in their last three drawing two of these and winning one.  Just two of their last eight in front of their own fans has seen both teams find the back of the net.

It is now five straight matches without a goal for Nottingham Forest who have shipped four times in these ties.  Around 56% of the goals they have scored this season have come in the second 45 minutes.

Nottingham Forest Team News

Ashkan Dejagh (knee), Daryl Murphy (unknown), Jack Hobbs (back), Chris Cohen (knee), David Vaughan (unknown) and Jamie Ward (hamstring) are doubts.

Brentford Preview

Two straight victories and no defeat in their last four has kept alive the Bees hopes of making the play-offs.  They sit in tenth place five points behind Middlesbrough who are in sixth currently.

Away from Griffin Park, they have had a mixed set of results with five victories and five defeats from their last ten.  None of their last eight on the road have seen both teams find the back of the net.

Neal Maupay has netted in his last two appearances and has bagged five from his last ten domestic games.  Brentford would be as low as 17th if the game was decided on results after 45 minutes.

Brentford Team News

Rico Henry (knee) is a long-term absentee while Florian Jozefzoon (ankle) is a doubt. Ryan Woods will miss the game through suspension.
