Nottingham Forest Preview
Nottingham Forest remain stuck in mid-table mediocrity in the Championship after drawing 0-0 away to Leeds United last time out. Having been on the periphery of the playoffs coming into December, Forest have since struggled to keep pace with the rest of the chasing pack, having now dropped to 14th in the table following the stalemate at Elland Road. That said, to hold promotion-chasing Leeds was a decent result for Mark Warburton’s men, who will clutch at any kind of positivity coming their way at present. Without a win in five with two draws and three defeats in the Championship, the FA Cup should come as a welcome distraction for Forest, who can now play without the pressures of a league game, where the emphasis is solely on whether they take three points or not. However, they haven’t performed especially well in such games in recent seasons, having already suffered a 5-1 loss to Chelsea at the City Ground earlier in the season in the EFL Cup. This will also be the second time in as many seasons that Forest have faced the Gunners in cup competition, having also played them in the EFL Cup last term, losing 4-0 in doing so.
Nottingham Forest Team News
Mark Warburton has no new fresh injury concerns ahead of this one.
Arsenal Preview
While the point earned may not have been the target of Arsene Wenger at the Emirates on Wednesday evening, the Frenchman must’ve been happy with the fight shown by his team as they drew 2-2 against Chelsea. Jack Wilshere continued his excellent form in the Arsenal midfield when he crashed in the opening goal off the post, but Eden Hazard converted from the penalty spot to level the game at 1-1. Marcos Alonso appeared to have won the game for Chelsea when he put the Blues ahead in the 84th minute, but Hector Bellerin’s stoppage time effort ensured Arsenal salvaged a late point. It means Wenger’s men go into the FA Cup break five points behind Liverpool in 4th and two points below Tottenham, as they look to make an instant return to Champions League football at the first time of asking. Still involved in four competitions this season, expect a rotated Arsenal lineup here, particularly with the fact they face Chelsea in the EFL Cup semi-finals on Wednesday evening - a competition Wenger is still yet to win as Arsenal boss. Currently unbeaten in nine games, the shine of that statistic is slightly dampened by the fact they have drawn five of those games, though they will feel confident of victory here as they look to win a fourth FA Cup in five seasons.
Arsenal Team News
Nacho Monreal (ankle), Sead Kolasinac (knee), Santi Cazorla (achilles), Aaron Ramsey and Olivier Giroud (both hamstring) are set to miss out for the Gunners.
