Norwich City vs Stoke City Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Saturday afternoon (15:00) fixture features two sides who have both picked up four points from their last two matches. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Norwich saw their four-game winning run come to an end but are still six unbeaten following a 1-1 draw at Derby in midweek. Timm Klose had put them ahead but a goal four minutes from time denied them all three points that would have been harsh on the Rams.

Stoke picked up a needed three points in midweek as a goal in each half helped them see off Bolton 2-0. Bruno Martins Indi and Tom ince (three in three) got the goals in a comfortable victory for the Potters.

These two teams were in different divisions last season so you have to go back to the 2014/15 Premier League campaign. It is honours even from their last six meetings with two wins each and two draws.

Betting Tips and Predictions

The prices look about right as though the gap in the league table suggests there is something to choose between these sides in reality the gap is probably not that huge and I would expect those to finish close to each other in the top ten.

Nine of the 11 Norwich have played have been level going into the international break so this looks the way to play it while given both sides have scored around two-thirds of goals in the second-half back the second 45 minutes to be the highest scoring.

Norwich City Preview

The Canaries will not want the international break to come as they are on great form having taken 13 points from their five games played in this period. They are now up to fifth in the table and have just two of their next ten against teams in the top ten.

At Carrow Road, they have played five times in the league this season winning three and losing two. Each of the last four the East Anglian outfit have played in front of their own fans have seen one or both teams fail to score.

Norwich have been behind just once going into the half-time break but then they have been ahead just once going in level on nine occasions. 73% of their goals this season have come in the second-half.

Norwich City Team News

Ivo Pinto, Matt Jarvis (both knee), Onel Hernandez (hernia), Grant Hanley (thigh), Aston Oxborough (hand) and Carlton Morris (cruciate) are on the long-term injured list while Ben Marshall (unknown) and Kenny McLean (ankle) are closing in on returns.

Stoke City Preview

It remains to be seen if four points from their last two games is a turning point for the Potters or a reflection on the fact they have played Rotherham and Bolton. They sit down in 16th though the expected goals feels they are being unlucky and has them in fifth.

Away from the Bet365 Stadium, they are without a win this season though three of them have ended in a draw. All five the Staffordshire outfit have played on the road have seen both teams score and gone over 2.5 goals.

Stoke have 16 of 34 of their goals (at both ends) come in the opening half and while this is under 50% it is on the high end in a division where most goals come in the second half. 62.5 of their goals have come in the second 45 minutes.

Stoke City Team News

Mame Biram Diouf (hamstring), Ibrahim Afellay and Sam Clucas (both knee) are doubts.
