Norwich City vs Middlesbrough Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Saturday afternoon (15:00) fixture features two sides who still harbour hopes of a return to the Premier League. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Norwich were successful last time out as they defeated Brentford 1-0 on the road thanks to a James Maddison goal. The expected goals data shows that the Canaries were probably a little fortunate but they will certainly not be complaining.

Middlesbrough were in FA Cup action last weekend going down to a 1-0 home loss to Premier League Brighton. In midweek, they were in Championship action and they were held to a goalless draw against Sheffield Wednesday although they did dominate.

The reverse fixture came at the end of September at the Riverside Stadium and the East Anglian outfit won that one 1-0. James Madison got the only goal of the game to ensure City took all three points.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Both these sides are in and out so getting a handle on who will game is difficult and this is reflected in the prices with home advantage making the Canaries marginal favourites.

One bet I like the look of is the over 2.5 goals which has landed in the last seven road games for Middlesbrough and four of the last five league home ties for Norwich. This also brings in to play the YES in the both teams to score market while adding them in a double is also an option available to you.

Norwich City Preview

The Canaries have won three of their last four and lost just one of their last six which has moved them into mid-table. At the deadline, Norwich made moves for Moritz Leiner, Onel Hernandez and Dennis Srbeny and kept key player James Maddison.

At Carrow Road, it has been a mixed bag of late with two victories, two draws and two defeats from their last six. Each of their last six and eight of their last nine in front of their own fans has seen both teams score.

James Maddison has got eight league goals this season and three in his last four appearances. Just two of their last six have gone over 2.5 goals with three of their last five in the league going under 1.5 goals.

Norwich City Team News

Ivo Pinto (bruised knee), Mario Vrancic (leg) and Wes Hoolahan (back) are doubts while Matt Jarvis (ankle) and Louis Thompson (Achilles) are long-term absentees.

Middlesbrough Preview

It has been a mixed bag for Boro of late with two victories, one draw and two defeats from their last five league fixtures. In the transfer window, they picked up Muhamed Besic on loan from Everton and signed Martin Crainie from Huddersfield.

Away from the Riverside Stadium, they have won each of their last three and six of 14 for the season. Their last seven on the road have gone over 2.5 goals with six of these seeing both teams scoring.

Daniel Ayala is in good scoring form for the Teesiders with the Spaniard having netted three times in his last four league appearances. Around 60% of their league goals this season have come in the first-half.
