Norwich City vs Ipswich Town Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Sunday lunchtime (12:00) fixture is live on SKYTV and features two sides in the middle of the Championship table. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Norwich picked up a useful point on the road in their last match as they drew 1-1 at Derby. The Canaries were probably a little unlucky not to claim all three points after missing a penalty before James Maddison scored from the spot. Ipswich come into the game on the back of a goalless draw at home to Burton last weekend. The Tractor Boys can consider themselves a little fortunate to get a point as the Brewers were the stronger team. The reverse fixture came at the end of October and a James Maddison goal was enough to give the Norfolk outfit victory. It continues a head-to-head trend in which Norwich are unbeaten in their last nine against their local rivals.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Norwich are a short price to win this game but given these two sides have almost identical records in the league I could not bring myself to back them. On the prices alone Ipswich make sense but then they have not won in nine meetings with their local rivals so perhaps this is a mental thing as such I would avoid betting on the to win market. The last five meetings between these sides have been level at half-time and backing the draw at the interval looks a sensible play. Three of these have been goalless so also take a little play on 0-0 in the half-time correct score market.

Norwich City Preview

The Canaries are finding their feet under boss Daniel Farke with seven points from their last three and just one defeat in eight. They sit in 13th place and can overtake their local rivals with a victory here. At Carrow Road, it has been a mixed bag of late with two victories and two defeats from their last four. A feature of games in front of their own fans is both teams scoring which has happened in six of their last seven. Norwich have kept a clean sheet in three of their last five and five of their last eight in the league. Each of their last four and 11 of their last 13 have seen at least one goal netted in the opening half.

Norwich City Team News

Wes Hoolahan (back) and Matt Jarvis (ankle) are doubts while Louis Thompson (Achilles) and Tom Trybull (ankle) are long-term absentees.

Ipswich Town Preview

It has been a mixed set of results for the Tractor Boys recently with two victories, two draws and two defeats from their last six. They sit in 12th place and are eight points behind the play-offs. Away from Portman Road, they have taken four points from their last two but before that had lost three straight. Only two sides (Sunderland and Nottingham Forest) have conceded more road goals than them this season. The last five Ipswich league matches have produced a total of just six goals with Town netting four of these. Three of their last five in the Championship have been goalless going into the break.

Ipswich Town Team News

Tristan Nydam (illness) and David McGoldrick (knee) are rated doubtful. Tom Adeyemi, Teddy Bishop (both hamstring), Dean Gerken (hip), Emyr Huws and Andre Dozzell (both knee) are long-term absentees.
