Norwich City vs Brighton & Hove Albion Match Prediction

By Gary Gillles

It has been one win each and two draws from their last four meetings though it was Brighton who came out on top in the reverse fixture back in October. The Seagulls ran rampant that day emerging victorious 5-0 thanks a hat-trick from Glenn Murray and a goal each from Lewis Dunk and Anthony Knockaert. The Canaries continued their hit and miss form with a victory last time out as they saw off Preston 3-1 at Deepdale on Easter Monday. The goals that day were shared around with one each for Graham Dorrans, Josh Murphy and James Maddison. Brighton booked their place in the Premier League with a 2-1 victory over Wigan last time out. A goal each from Glenn Murray and Solomon March enabled them to claim the three points.

Betting Tips and Predictions

The match prices look about right considering the home form of Norwich and the fact that neither side has anything much to play for. Maybe Brighton want to win the league rather than finish second, but after the celebrations for making the Premier League, I find it hard to imagine they’ve had a great week training. I would instead have a couple of plays in the goalscorer markets. Firstly, on Alex Pritchard who did not score against Preston but did get a few shots on target and is at the heart of most of the good things the Canaries. Secondly, I like the look of Lewis Dunk who is always a threat at set-pieces and the East Anglian side are vulnerable to such goals and with many of the same players from his days at Norwich Chris Hughton will know to exploit this.

Norwich Preview

Getting Norwich right now is an impossible task as they followed a 3-0 abject defeat at Huddersfield with a 7-1 defeat of Reading only to lose 3-1 to a Fulham side who played half the game with ten men only then to beat a strong home side in Preston 3-1 at Deepdale. So, it is impossible to guess how they do here. At Carrow Road, it was nine without defeat before they went down 3-1 to Fulham in the last game they played in front of their fans. This is one of two remaining fixtures they have at home with the other coming against QPR on the final day of the season. Cameron Jerome has four in his last four at home while both Alex Pritchard and Jacob Murphy have two in their last five. Ten of their last 14 have gone over 2.5 goals including each of their last four. Six of the last seven when in Norfolk have seen both teams find the back of the net.

Brighton Preview

A fifth successive victory means that Brighton are now guaranteed Premier League football next season. They are also on course to win the Championship title as with three games remaining they sit seven points above Newcastle in second. On the road, the Seagulls have won each of their last two and four of their last six. Over the season, they have the second best away record (behind Newcastle), and this marks one of two remaining road trips the other coming on the final day of the season at Aston Villa. Glenn Murray has four goals in his last six games while Anthony Knockaert has three in the last seven. Each of their last three and 11 of their previous 13 games have seen exactly two or three goals scored. Their last four away matches and five of their last six on the road have seen exactly two goals scored.
