Norwich City vs Bolton Wanderers Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Saturday afternoon (15:00) fixture features two sides in opposite halves of the Championship table. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Norwich come in to the game on the back of a morale boosting point at Wolves fighting back from two down to draw 2-2. Christopher Zimmerman and Nelson Oliveira got the goals to give them a point that their performance deserved. Bolton picked up an important three points on Tuesday night as they defeated Sunderland 1-0 thanks to a Zach Clough goal. The Trotters were probably a little fortunate to take all three points as the visitors shaded possession and shots on target. The reverse fixture came early in November and it was won by Wanderers 2-1 which put to an end a four-game losing run against the Canaries. Gary Madine and Adam Armstrong netted for the Lancashire side while Josh Murphy got a late consolation.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Norwich are playing well and in good form but it has been a tough week fighting back to rescue points at Wolves and at home to Ipswich. Burton, Hull and Barnsley have all claimed points here this season so they don’t look good things at such short odds. Bolton are terrible on the road though so I would not be looking to side with anyone in the full-time result market. Jamal Lewis did net an own-goal in midweek and he will be hungry to make amends here. He already has an FA Cup goal for the season and his statistics show he has licence to get forward from left-back and I think he looks worth an each-way first goalscorer look. The Trotters are not really firing in the goals so I understand why both teams to score is an outsider but this has happened in seven of the last eight home games for the Canaries so I think it could be worth a small play.

Norwich City Preview

The Canaries are enjoying a good run of form that has seen them go five games unbeaten though each of the last three have finished all square. They sit in 12th place currently and a run of five in a row against teams in the bottom-half gives them a good chance of getting some points on board. At Carrow Road, it has been a mixed bag of late with two victories, two defeats and one draw from their last five. Both teams to score is a feature of their home matches with it happening in seven of their last eight. Nelson Oliveira scored in midweek and tends to be a streak scorer netting two in three in December and four in six at the start of the season. Norwich have produced the joint lowest goals average per game in the division this season with just 2.15 per fixture.

Norwich City Team News

Wes Hoolahan (back) and Matt Jarvis (ankle) are doubts while Louis Thompson (Achilles) and Tom Trybull (ankle) are long-term absentees.

Bolton Wanderers Preview

The Trotters put to an end a three-game winless run with victory in midweek and have now lost just three of their last nine. They are now four points above the relegation zone though three of their next four are on the road. Away from the Macron Stadium, they have lost four of their last five by the same 2-0 scoreline. They have managed to net just once in their last five on the road and a league low nine times this season. Just one of the last five and two of the last 11 Bolton Championship fixtures have seen both teams find the back of the net. The Lancashire outfit would be as high as 15th if the table was settle on the scores after 45 minutes.

Bolton Wanderers Team News

Will Buckley (hamstring), Josh Vela (ankle), Craig Noone (knee), Stephen Darby (head) and Darren Pratley (broken leg) are doubts. Mark Little will miss the game through suspension
