Norwich City vs Aston Villa Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Tuesday evening (19:45) fixture is live on Sky Sports) and features two promotion hopefuls. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Norwich got back to winning ways after a defeat prior to the international break with a 2-1 road success at Nottingham Forest. Timm Klose grabbed a brace as the Canaries picked up a deserved three points.

Aston Villa started life under new man Dean Smith with a 1-0 defeat of Swansea thanks to an eighth minute Tammy Abrahams goal netting against a club he was once on loan with.  A draw would have probably been a fairer reflection of an evenly fought game.

The two meetings between these sides last season were won by the home side with it ending 3-1 at Carrow Road and 4-2 at Villa Park. Conor Hourihane netted a hat-trick in one of these encounters.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Bookmakers are struggling to split the pair and this seems fair Norwich have won three and lost three at home while Villa are without a win in five but are still playing to impress the new man in the dugout.

Under 2.5 goals is the outsider because of trends but both teams have attacking talent and as such I think this could be a more open game than anticipated.  I like the over 2.5 goals and also a small play on over 3.5.

Norwich City Preview

The Canaries have lost just one of their last eight a run that has shot them up the table into the play-off spots and they currently sit sixth. They now have a run of fixtures that sees three of their next four at their own place.

At Carrow Road, it has been a mixed bag with three victories and three defeats and no games ending all-square. The East Anglian side have seen just one of the last five in front of their own fans go over 2.5 goals.

Norwich are slow starters going into the break ahead just once though nine of these have been level. 14 of the 17 goals they have netted in the Championship have come in the second-half.

Norwich City Team News

Teemu Pukki (hamstring), Ivo Pinto (knee), Kenny McLean (ankle) and Ben Marshall (fitness) are doubts while Matt Jarvis (also knee), Grant Hanley (thigh), Aston Oxborough (hand) and Carlton Morris (cruciate) are long-term absentees.

Aston Villa Preview

Villa got off to a winning start under their new boss which put to an end a four-game winless run. They sit 13th in the table and have three of their next four on the road before a clash with local rivals Birmingham.

Away from Villa Park, they are without a victory in five though have scored exactly one goal in each of these fixtures. Dean Smith will look to improve this form though interesting to not his Brentford side were winless in their six on the road this season.

Nine of the 13 that Aston Villa have played in the Championship have been level going into the break. They have scored ten of their 21 goals before half-time and have netted in the first 45 minutes of each of their last four.

Aston Villa Team News

Keinan Davis (groin) and Harry McKirdy (dislocated shoulder) are doubts.
