Nice vs Vitesse Match Prediction

By Marius Hrebenciuc

Nice will be looking for their second victory of their Europa League group K campaign when they welcome Vitesse at the Allianz Riviera on Thursday afternoon. Nice kicked off their Europa League campaign with a comfortable 1-5 victory on the road at the Belgian side Waregem thanks to a brace from Alassane Plea and three other goals from Dante, Allan Saint-Maximin and Mario Balotelli. On the other hand, Vitesse threw away a one-goal lead twice to succumb to a 2-3 home loss at the hands of Lazio last time out in the Europa League. Tim Matavz gave them the lead at halftime, while Brian Linssen made it 2-1 with just three minutes before the hour mark. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news, match stats and odds all in our SBAT preview.

Betting Predictions and Tips

Both teams have been vulnerable at the back over the past month, so I’m fancying goals in this one. Nice have scored at least two goals in three of their last four competitive games, while Vitesse have conceded at least one goal in each of their last four games across all competitions. In terms of predicting the winner, Nice should be able to grab all three points here, but Vitesse looked strong on the road over the past few weeks and I’m also backing them to get on the scoresheet.

Nice Preview

Nice had a terrible start to this 2017/18 competitive season, having lost five of their opening six official fixtures. However, they revived themselves with a 4-0 home win over Monaco in Ligue 1 three weeks ago and followed this up with a comfortable 1-5 away win at Waregem in their Europa League group opener. Nice are currently on a four-game unbeaten streak across all competitions, including a 2-2 home draw against Angers in Ligue 1 last weekend. The worrying fact is that Nice have struggled for fluency on home soil in this early part of the season, registering two defeats, two wins and one draw in their last five home fixtures across all competitions. In addition, the French side have only won one of their last five European home games. Nice made their Europa League group stage debut last season, but they finished bottom of the table with just six points to their name after six group fixtures. Les Aiglons currently sit in 9th position in the Ligue 1 table with ten points under their belts after seven rounds, three points behind the top five. Mario Balotelli and Alassane Plea have both been in fine shape throughout this early part of the season, as the pair bagged seven goals and one assist between them.

Nice Team News

Marlon Santos da Silva Barbosa, Mickael Le Bihan, Mounir Obbadi and Jean Michael Seri are all doubts, but Wylan Cyprien is out through injury.

Vitesse Preview

Vitesse, on the flip side, have endured a mixed run of form in this early part of their 2017/18 competitive season, registering four defeats, four wins and one draw in their nine official outings. The Arnheim side are currently on a three-game unbeaten streak in the Eredivisie, including an impressive 1-2 victory on the road at Ajax at the weekend. Sandwiched in-between their recent Eredivisie results, Vitesse suffered a disappointing elimination from the KNVB Beker Cup following an extra-time defeat at the hands of the amateur side Swift. Vitesse qualified for the Europa League group stage after winning the Dutch Cup last term, but they kicked off their campaign with a disappointing 2-3 home loss at the hands of Lazio, despite the fact they had the lead twice. Vitesse are currently on a seven-game winless streak in the Europa League, having conceded at least two goals in six of these. Away from home, Vitesse are winless in their last six European games since a 0-1 victory at Rapid Bucharest back in 2002. Tim Matavz is definitely a player to watch here as he got on the scoresheet last time out against Lazio and he has already scored five goals in six Eredivisie appearances.

Vitesse Team News

Arnold Kruiswijk is the only doubtful player for Vitesse ahead of this trip.
