Newcastle United vs West Bromwich Albion Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Newcastle’s four-game winning run concluded after a narrow 1-0 loss against Everton at Goodison Park. Theo Walcott’s goal just a few minutes into the second-half turned out to be the only goal of the game. West Brom continued their good run under Darren Moore after picking up a 2-2 draw with Liverpool at the Hawthorns. The Reds appeared to be heading for a comfortable 2-0 win after goals from Danny Ings and Mohamed Salah. However, West Brom came in with a spectacular comeback in the final 11 minutes, as goals from Jake Livermore and Salomon Rondon secured an unlikely point.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Newcastle have not been a great opponent for West Brom after managing just one win in the last five games against the Magpies. Hence, the recent revival from West Brom is unlikely to last much longer based on recent head-to-head records. Despite losing against Everton, Newcastle are likely to bounce back straight away since they have been excellent over the last few weeks. Home advantage is especially good with four consecutive wins at St James’ Park. I would back a win for Newcastle.

West Brom have had a good scoring record at St James’ Park after managing a goal in five out of the last six visits to this ground. Ironically, the club failed to score only in the recent visit. After failing to keep a clean sheet in the last three league matches, it is a good idea to back Newcastle conceding at least once in the game. I would back a game with goals at both ends.

Newcastle United Preview

The loss against Everton is a major blow to Newcastle’s recent momentum, which has put the club in a firm position to challenge for the eighth place. Even now, Newcastle are only four points behind Everton whilst having played a game less. Rafa Benitez has done a fine job to take Newcastle from a position of significant relegation threat to a top-10 finish. This bodes well for the club’s foray into the upcoming transfer market. The threat from Bournemouth is one of the few worries for Newcastle in the remaining four games, although the Magpies can make seal a place in the top-10 by winning three out of the last four.

Newcastle United Team News

Robert Elliott (back) and Christian Atsu (knee) are missing from action for Newcastle.

West Bromwich Albion Preview

After struggling for form throughout the campaign, West Brom may have just missed the boat even after the recent revival in form. The club are looking unlikely to stay in the Premier League despite taking points off Manchester United and Liverpool in back-to-back matches. Salomon Rondon has been a decisive player for West Brom in recent weeks but the chances of the striker helping West Brom to remain in the division are slim. The baggies are six points behind Swansea, who do have a game in hand. Hence, West Brom’s relegation to the Championship could be confirmed by the end of this weekend.

West Bromwich Albion Team News

Gareth Barry (knee) and James Morrison (Achilles tendon) are the names missing from action for West Brom.
