Newcastle United vs Watford Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Newcastle United remain winless even after 10 league matches after a goalless draw with Southampton at the St Mary’s Stadium. The Magpies failed to get a shot on target in the entire 90 minutes and were extremely disappointing, but Rafa Benitez was happy with a second clean sheet in the last five games. Watford made it back-to-back league wins after beating Huddersfield Town 3-0 at Vicarage Road. Roberto Pereyra’s mazy run broke the deadlock after 10 minutes, while Gerard Deulofeu’s powerful strike made it 2-0 after 19 minutes. A late goal from Isaac Success provided a big win for Watford.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Watford are aiming for a sixth consecutive win over Newcastle United. Newcastle’s last victory over this opponent was almost eight years ago. The likelihood of the Magpies ending is wait is extremely low with the team turning out poor performances with amazing consistency. Newcastle lack any creativity or composure going forward. Watford may have excelled in home games, but I would go with a win for the visitors, who have picked up back-to-back wins.

Huddersfield’s hopeless defending helped Watford to a three goal tally during the weekend. Newcastle also remain poor at the back, but they will be wary of inept defending in front of the home supporters. Even though Watford picked up a 3-0 win in the last visit to St James’ Park, I would go with the game to produce under 2.5 goals.

Newcastle United Preview

A disastrous performance against Southampton increases more pressure on Rafa Benitez, who has now watched his Newcastle team failed to win any of the 11 competitive matches this season. The game against Southampton may have produced a clean sheet for the Magpies but it was largely down to Southampton’s inability to take their chances rather than the other way round. Newcastle ended up having no shots on target in the 90 minutes. It is no surprise that Newcastle possess the second worst defensive record after having scored just six league goals this season. Joselu is Newcastle’s top scorer with two goals of the six goals scored by the club.

Newcastle United Team News

Benitez will be without Ciaran Clark (thigh), Florian Lejeune (cruciate ligament), and Jamie Sterry (groin) due to injuries.

Watford Preview

Javi Gracia saw his Watford team return to winning ways at Vicarage Road, where form and results are crucial to Watford extending their brilliant start to the campaign. Four out of the six league victories for Watford have been at home, but the Hornets have generally been good so far this season. This improved home form is crucial for Watford with Liverpool and Manchester City the next two teams to visit this ground. Gracia will look forward to the return of several key players like Tom Cleverley and Troy Deeney in the next few weeks.

Watford Team News

Nathaniel Chalobah (knee), Tom Cleverley (Achilles tendon), Younes Kaboul (foot), Troy Deeney (hamstring), Sebastian Prodl (leg), and Daryl Janmaat (meniscus) are the players unavailable for Watford.
