Newcastle United vs Everton Match Prediction

By Marius Hrebenciuc

Newcastle will look to return to winning ways in the Premier League when they welcome in-form Everton at the St. James’ Park on Wednesday night. Newcastle United have suffered a disappointing 2-3 home loss against Leicester City last time out in the Premier League. Joselu gave Newcastle the lead in the 4th minute, but Leicester fought back from behind and made it 1-2 in the 60th minute. Dwight Gayle levelled the game 13 minutes later, but Leicester eventually won the game thanks to an own goal from Ayoze Perez. On the other hand, Everton managed a 1-1 draw against Liverpool in the Merseyside derby at the weekend, with Wayne Rooney scoring the equalizer from the spot with just 13 minutes to go. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news, match stats and odds all in our SBAT preview. Feel free to visit our Bet of the day page to check our best daily tips.

Betting Predictions and Tips

These two sides have bagged 54 goals between them throughout this Premier League campaign, but Everton looked much better at the back since the appointment of Sam Allardyce. Everton are the in-form team in this tie and we fancy them to secure at least one point here. Furthermore, we don’t expect too many goals here, as Everton managed to keep a clean sheet in four of the last five meetings with Newcastle.

Newcastle United Preview

Newcastle had a strong start to this Premier League campaign, having lost just once in the opening seven league outings. However, things got worse for Newcastle at the end of October and they now come into this tie on the back of a seven-game winless streak in the Premier League. Keeping the ball out of their own net has been Newcastle’s biggest problem over the past month, as they conceded at least two goals in each of their last five games in the Premier League. This leaves the Magpies in 16th position in the league table with 15 points to their name after 16 rounds, just two points clear of the bottom three. Their recent home form has also let them down as Newcastle has suffered back-to-back defeats in their most recent three home league outings, scoring just twice in this term. Furthermore, Newcastle have lost three of their last four home meetings with Everton in the Premier League, conceding at least two goals in three of these. Dwight Gayle and Joselu have been Newcastle’s most prolific players in front of goal so far this season, having scored three goals each.

Newcastle United Team News

There are no fresh injury concerns for Newcastle and the good news is that Massadio Haidara is back in training following his knee injury.

Everton Preview

Everton have shown signs of life since Sam Allardyce has been appointed as manager. The Toffees are now undefeated in four games across all competitions, including a creditable 1-1 draw at Anfield last weekend. Everton may not play attractive football at the moment, but they looked incredibly solid at the back over the past three weeks. The Toffees have only conceded once in their last four competitive fixtures while scoring ten. However, they still hold one of the worst defensive records in the division with 29 goals conceded in 16 games. Everton currently lie 10th in the Premier League table with 19 points to their name after 16 rounds, six points clear of the drop zone. The most worrying fact is that Everton have only won once in their last ten competitive away fixtures. In addition, they are winless on the road throughout this Premier League campaign, registering four draws and four defeats in eight league trips. The good news is that Everton have won four of the last five meetings with Newcastle in the Premier League, keeping a clean sheet in each of these. Wayne Rooney has been Everton’s most dangerous player in front of goal throughout this Premier League campaign, helping the team with eight goals and one assist.

Everton Team News

Leighton Baines and Maarten Stekelenburg are both doubts, while Ramiro Funes Mori and Ross Barkley are missing through injury. However, James McCarthy and Seamus Coleman are both back in training.
