Newcastle United vs Burnley Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Newcastle United picked up a third consecutive league win at home after a 2-0 success over Huddersfield Town. It was a mightily impressive performance from Newcastle, who scored just after the break through Salomon Rondon. Ayoze Perez doubled the advantage after six minutes as Newcastle capitalised on Tommy Smith’s 20th minute red card. Burnley were able to extend their unbeaten run to eight league matches after a late 2-1 win over Spurs. Chris Wood provided the opening goal with his 57th minute header, but Harry Kane equalised just eight minutes later. Ashley Barnes, though, provided the winner for the Clarets with seven minutes of normal time left.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

These two teams do not many differences in terms of recent form but home advantage gives Newcastle a huge amount of favour. The impressive debut from Miguel Almiron gives a reason for Newcastle to believe themselves going forward, but Burnley do not give away match. The extended unbeaten streak for Burnley is likely to come to an end in an away match and I would pick a win for the hosts.

Both teams have great scoring potential with Newcastle registering 29 shots in the recent game against Huddersfield, while Burnley have been able to profit immensely by the form of Ashley Barnes and Chris Wood. I would pick both teams to score.

Newcastle United Preview

Newcastle were able to rejoice the debut of Miguel Almiron with one of the best offensive performances from the team in a very long time. Newcastle’s return of 29 shots at goal – with 12 finding the target – is a sign of things to come with Almiron providing the zing in the final third of the pitch. Newcastle could have scored a lot more goals if not for the woodwork. The Magpies, though, still remain close to comfort with the drop zone only four points behind. Yet, their recent run of form will make them take a look at the 10th place, which is only six points ahead. Rondon remains an important player for Newcastle after having scored seven goals – the same tally he achieved in the 2017-18 campaign.

Newcastle United Team News

Rafa Benitez does not have any injury worries coming into the game.

Burnley Preview

Sean Dyche continues to get an impressive set of results from Burnley, who have now gone eight games without a defeat in the Premier League. The last defeat for the team in the league was against Everton at Turf Moor. Burnley have been a solid team across the pitch and Tom Heaton has produced some inspiring performances. Burnley have been able to take advantage of the solidarity provided by the backline, and it is primarily done to the form of Chris Wood and Ashley Barnes. Both players have experienced a great partnership up front and this can be the basis for more goals in the future.

Burnley Team News

Aaron Lennon (knee), Steven Defour (calf), and Jonathan Walters (Achilles tendon) are unavailable for the Clarets.
