Newcastle United vs Brighton & Hove Albion Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Newcastle United’s winless streak extended even further as the team lost a two-goal lead against Manchester United and ended up losing 3-2 at Old Trafford. Goals from Kenedy and Muto had provided Rafa Benitez’ team with an incredible score after just 10 minutes; Jose Mourinho’s response through early substitutions reaped the rewards in the second half with Juan Mata, Anthony Martial, and Alexis Sanchez scoring the goals. Brighton once again used home advantage to manage a narrow 1-0 victory over West Ham. Glen Murray was once again the hero for Brighton after coming up with the 25th minute winner.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Brighton are winless in the recent two trips to St James’ Park. Hughton’s men generally do not perform well on the road. Newcastle will take a lot of heart from the first half performance against Manchester United. Even though there will be noises against some elements of Newcastle, the Geordie faithful are likely to be in support of the team. Brighton do not have a great offensive threat but with much of the focus on January. I would back a win for Newcastle.

Both clubs are trying to find out their space in the division. Newcastle may miss a number of key players for this game, but Benitez still has the likelihood of offering a strong team. Even though Newcastle have been able to pick up just one team sheet since September, I would go with a clean sheet for the home team; Brighton have been unable to score in the last two away games against Newcastle.

Newcastle United Preview

Rafa Benitez continues to hold of the faith of supporters even as results continue to go astray. There is a serious danger of Newcastle being cut off from the rest of the Premier League after having picked up only two points from the first eight games of the campaign. The Magpies had a remarkable chance to get the season back on track, as a comprehensive victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford would have provided the entire club with a massive lift. As it stands, Newcastle have gone through six losses in eight games. Benitez will also be without some key offensive players coming into the upcoming match.

Newcastle United Team News

Kenedy (knock), Yoshinori Muto (knock), Salomon Rondon (thigh), Ciaran Clark (thigh), and Florian Lejeune (cruciate ligament) are unavailable for Benitez.

Brighton & Hove Albion Preview

The AMEX Stadium has held an important position for Brighton in their fight against relegation. Spurs are the only team to have come to this ground and secured three points this season. Brighton have placed a lot of faith on players like Glen Murray and they continue to hold the club afloat. Chris Hughton is aware that his team may not have the ability to get away victories this season – just one draw in the four away games so far. Hence, there is a huge dependence on home games. Likewise, the goals from Glen Murray have also been keeping the club afloat.

Brighton & Hove Albion Team News

Dale Stephens (hamstring), Martin Montoya (hamstring), Matthew Ryan, Gaetan Bong (knee), and Soufyan Ahannach (broken leg) are unavailable for Brighton.
