Newcastle United Preview

While the effort and application of this Newcastle team is admirable, Rafa Benitez must ultimately be left feeling frustrated with the lack of quality at his disposal after seeing his team lose 1-0 away to Burnley on Monday night. With a goalless draw becoming close to inevitable, Clarets midfielder Jeff Hendrick scored the only goal of the game 15 minutes from time to condemn Newcastle to defeat and consequently saw Burnley leapfrog them in the Premier League table. Benitez has done an exceptional job with this squad of players to date, but their lack of killer instinct away from home has continued to plague them in recent outings. Having a tactical master can at times only get you so far, with this team currently a few signings short for really competing for honours this season. It’s far from doom and gloom at Newcastle though, with their current position of 9th being far from poor, while they have been excellent in front of their home crowd. Newcastle have won three of their last four matches at home, drawing the other 1-1 with Liverpool, and only Tottenham Hotspur have come away with three points against them at home this season in a game they could’ve got a result from.

Newcastle United Team News

Paul Dummett (hamstring) and Massadio Haidara (knee) are both absent.

AFC Bournemouth Preview

Chelsea were perhaps one of the last opponents Bournemouth will have wanted to face after beginning to build some momentum in the Premier League, losing 1-0 at home to the reigning Premier League champions. Antonio Conte’s men gave few chances away at the Vitality Stadium and Bournemouth may well have felt disappointed with the goal they conceded. Eden Hazard wandered down Chelsea’s left before beating Asmir Begovic at his near post, with the more critical spectators out there likely to feel he should’ve saved it. As such, the Cherries will now come into this game sat 19th in the Premier League table desperately needing a victory before the international break. Inconsistent performances have let down Bournemouth so far this season and so too, surprisingly, has been a lack of form in front of goal. For a team who are openly encouraged to be creative and play with freedom in attack, Eddie Howe will have expected a far better return than just six goals from their opening 10 Premier League matches so far this season. Also winning just twice in those 10 games, they are a team who really need to find the winning touch and fast.

AFC Bournemouth Team News

Adam Federici (knee), Tyrone Mings (back) and Brad Smith (hip) are ruled out. Benik Afobe (hamstring) is a doubt, while Ryan Fraser (knock) and Junior Stanislas (groin) will face fitness tests.
