Newcastle Jets vs Adelaide United Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Newcastle Jets snatched victory from the jaws of death after beating Perth Glory 2-1 in the latest A-League 2017-18 game. Glory produced one of their best performances of the season and were leading 1-0 Joe Knowles’ 20th minute goal. Yet, Newcastle came up with two goals – through John Koutroumbisi and Jeremy Walker (own goal) – in the final few minutes of the game. Adelaide United were able to get a 2-1 victory over Melbourne Victory despite being reduced to nine-men. Babacar Diawara scored from a free header in the 17th minute, but Mark Milligan’s fine finish equalised the scores in the 56th minute. George Blackwood restored Adelaide’s advantage in the 72nd minute. Adelaide then had Daniel Adlung and Ben Garuccio sent off in the closing stages. Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

The recent form of Newcastle Jets has been extremely inconsistent, but the team appears to be extremely strong at home – even after the recent loss against Melbourne City. Even with Adelaide managing three wins in the last four away games, Newcastle seem like a likely candidate for a victory. Newcastle were able to win last month’s meeting with Adelaide. I would go with a victory for Newcastle Jets. The reason for Newcastle being unable to pull together a string of positive results is due to the struggles at the back. The club have not kept a clean sheet in the last five league matches, while this record does not even at the McDonald Jones Stadium – one clean sheet in five. Adelaide’s scoring form has improved of late and I see value in going with both teams to score.

Newcastle Jets win – 19/20

Both teams to score – 4/6

Newcastle Jets Preview

After a fine start to the season, Newcastle Jets are being plagued by inconsistent form in the last few weeks. The team could have certainly dropped more points during the weekend had it not been for a late recovery. Perth Glory produced one of their best performances of the season in this game. Newcastle Jets continue to remain as the top scoring outfit in the A-League with 23 goals, although Sydney FC have made significant ground on this record after the weekend results. The Jets, though, are without a clean sheet in the last five A-League games. Roy O’Donovan is the leading scorer with seven goals in as many games.

Newcastle Jets Team News

Ronald Vargas (malleolar) is the only injury worry for Newcastle Jets.

Adelaide United Preview

Adelaide produced a fine performance to make a push for the top two places. The club are now a significant four points ahead of Melbourne Victory, while the second spot is now in sight. Newcastle Jets have a six-point advantage, but Adelaide have been making up ground in recent weeks. A major step in the right direction would be improving home form, as Adelaide have only managed a solitary win at home in five games. Three out of their four victories this season have been on the road and the only away defeat was against Perth Glory. Ryan Kitto is the top scorer at Adelaide with four goals in 10 games

Adelaide United Team News

Adelaide United manager Marco Kurz does not have injury or suspension worries ahead of this match.
