New York Red Bulls vs Minnesota United Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

New York Red Bulls fell to a first league defeat of the campaign after losing 1-0 to Real Salt Lake at the Rio Tinto stadium. The only goal of the game came after just four minutes on the clock, as Albert Rusnak converted from the penalty spot. The Red Bulls lacked clinical finishing in front of goal as they failed to mount a comeback. Minnesota United picked up a second consecutive league win after beating Chicago Fire 2-1 at TCF Bank Stadium. Ibson provided the opening goal just after the break, but the lead lasted just four minutes as Elliot Collier came up with the equaliser for Chicago. The frantic occurrence of goals was complete in the 66th minute through Sam Nicholson.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

The Red Bulls suffered an expected defeat against Real Salt Lake, as the club’s focus was entirely on the CONCACAF Champions League match. However, the team is expected to return to full strength for this upcoming match against Minnesota, who have picked up back-to-back wins. However, the Red Bulls will be a strong opponent for any team visiting the Red Bull Arena and Minnesota are no exception. I would back a win for New York Red Bulls at half-time and full-time.

Bradley Wright Phillips is expected to return to the starting line-up after only being a substitute against RSL. The striker was one of the scorers in the 3-0 win over Minnesota last season. The goals from the England forward are very crucial towards Red Bulls’ success. I would back Bradley Wright Phillips to score anytime in the game.

New York Red Bulls win at half-time and full-time – 10/11

Bradley Wright Phillips to score anytime – 4/7

New York Red Bulls Preview

The Red Bulls have made a decent start to the season. Undoubtedly, the highlight of the campaign so far would be the qualification to the semi-finals of the CONCACAF Champions League. Yet, Marsch will be disappointed that they have been unable to build on the impressive win over Portland Timbers on the opening day. The club continue to rely heavily upon Bradley Wright Phillips, and Carlos Rivas does lack the finishing skills to replace the England forward.

New York Red Bulls Team News

Jesse Marsch does not have any injury worries, but he will be without Kemar Lawrence, Tyler Adams, Fidel Escobar, and Michael Murillo due to international action.

Minnesota United Preview

Minnesota United were able to create a sensational 2-1 win over Chicago Fire in the latest league match. This victory over a team that qualified for the play-offs last season is quite an impressive result. The strong start to the campaign means that Minnesota have achieved 20% of the total league wins in 2017 even after just three league games. Now, manager Adrian Heath will be looking to transform this form into a tough run of away games coming over the next few months.

Minnesota United Team News

Sam Cronin (head), Tyrone Mears (calf), Abu Danladi (hamstring), José Leiton, and Kevin Molino (cruciate ligament) are unavailable due to injuries, while Michael Boxall, Rasmus Schuller, and Francisco Calvo are away on international duty.
