By Marius Hrebenciuc

Sweden will be looking to finish at the top of the World Cup qualifying group A table when they travel to the Amsterdam ArenA to take on the Netherlands on Tuesday night. The Netherlands managed a comfortable 1-3 away victory over Belarus on Saturday night thanks to goals from Davy Propper, Arjen Robben and Memphis Depay. Meanwhile, Sweden won 8-0 at home over Luxembourg thanks to four goals from Marcus Berg, two from Andreas Granqvist and other two goals from Mikael Lustig and Ola Toivonen. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news, match stats and odds all in our SBAT preview.

Betting Predictions and Tips

The ‘Both teams to score’ market look good value here, as both teams got on the scoresheet in each of the last five meetings between these two sides. The Netherlands have scored at least three goals in each of their last three home games across all competitions, while Sweden have netted eight goals in their most recent three away games.

Netherlands Preview

Netherlands’ recent form has seen them win five of their last six games across all competitions, which includes a 1-3 away victory at Belarus on Saturday. After losing 4-0 away to France towards the end of August, Holland bounced back with two consecutive 3-1 victories over Bulgaria and Belarus. Despite their recent good form, the Netherlands find themselves only in third spot in the group A table with 16 points under their belts, three points behind the second-placed and their Tuesday’s opponents Sweden. Actually, this should have been the deciding game in the battle for the second place in the group A, but Sweden picked up a thrashing 8-0 home win over Luxembourg last time out, which means that Holland now need to beat Sweden by an unlikely seven-goal margin to secure the second spot. The good news is that the Netherlands looked solid going forward over the past five months, scoring 18 goals in their last six games across all competitions. Furthermore, Holland have won their last three home games, scoring at least three goals in each of these. In addition, the Netherlands have won their most recent two home meetings with Sweden, netting seven goals in the process. Arjen Robben has been the Netherlands’ most dangerous player in front of goal throughout this qualifying campaign, scoring four goals and providing one assist in his six appearances.

Netherlands Team News

There are no fresh injury concerns for the Netherlands ahead of this game.

Sweden Preview

After an unexpected 3-2 away defeat against Bulgaria towards the end of August, Sweden bounced back with two impeccable victories over Belarus and Luxembourg. The Swedes looked impressive at both ends of the field in their most recent two qualifiers, scoring 12 goals and conceding none in the process. Actually, Sweden hold the best attacking record in group A with 26 goals scored in nine rounds, including eight from their topscorer Marcus Berg. Emil Forsberg has also played a vital role in Sweden’s performance, helping the team with four goals and one assist. Sweden find themselves in second position in the group A table, just one point behind the current leaders France. The Swedes can still overtake France at the top of the table and book their place in Russia next summer if they win here and France don’t get all three points in their meeting with Belarus. Away from home, Sweden have only lost once in their last five games across all competitions and have scored at least two goals in four of these. In addition, Sweden are undefeated in their last two meetings with the Netherlands across all competitions, scoring four goals in this term.

Sweden Team News

Marcus Berg looked excellent going forward on Saturday and he should lead the attacking line once again on Tuesday.
