Nantes vs Caen Match Prediction

Nantes and Caen will be facing each other at the Stade de la Beaujoire - Louis Fonteneau on Saturday evening, with both teams looking to continue their good run of form in Ligue 1. Nantes managed a narrow 0-1 victory on the road at Montpellier last weekend, with Diego scoring the winner in the last 15 minutes of the game. Caen, on the other hand, won 2-1 at home over Dijon thanks to a penalty-goal from Ivan Santini and an own-goal from Cedric Yambere. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news and match stats all in our SBAT preview.
Betting Predictions and Tips
With both teams in a great run of form it’s difficult to predict the winner here, but I’m not fancying goals. Both sides have struggled in front of goal in this early part of the campaign, having bagged just seven goals between them. In addition, Nantes are yet to score in front of their own fans this season. In terms of betting, Nantes should be able to grab all three points in this one as they have won three of the last four meetings with Caen in Ligue 1 and they also faced stronger opponents than Caen recently. Here are our best two predictions for this game:
Nantes saw over 1.5 goals in 8 out of their last 10 games played
Nantes saw over 1.5 goals in 7 out of their last 10 games played against Caen
Caen saw over 1.5 goals in 8 out of their last 10 games played
Caen saw over 1.5 goals in 7 out of their last 10 games played against Nantes

Nantes Preview
Nantes suffered two consecutive defeats at the hands of Lille and Marseille in the opening two games of the new season, scoring none in the process. However, Nantes’ new coach Claudio Ranieri managed to put the team back on the track with two 1-0 victories over Troyes and Montpellier along with a nil-nil draw against Lyon. Nantes looked very well-organized at the back over the past month, keeping a clean sheet in each of the last three league fixtures. Ranieri’s men sit comfortably in 8th spot in the league table tied on seven points with Angers, Toulouse and Marseille, two points behind their Saturday’s opponents. Scoring goals has been Nantes’ main issue throughout the season as they hold the joint worst offensive record in the division, netting just two goals in five rounds. Their last season’s topscorer Emiliano Sala has only scored once this season, despite the fact that he featured in each of Nantes’ opening five rounds. The most worrying fact is that Nantes are winless in two home league games this season and have failed to score in each of these. However, they did well to beat Caen 1-0 in the most recent home meeting with Patrice Garande’s men in Ligue 1.
Nantes Team News
Samuel Moutoussamy, Kolbeinn Sigthorsson, Anthony Walongwa, Yacine Bammou and Valentin Rongier are all doubts, but Joris Kayembe Ditu is out through a cruciate ligament injury.
Caen Preview
Caen have also started the new Ligue 1 season with two consecutive defeats, but their recent form has seen them win back-to-back games over Lille, Metz, and Dijon. Caen looked incredibly strong at both ends of the field recently, scoring five goals and conceding just once in their last three league games. Patrice Garande’s men find themselves in 6th position in the Ligue 1 table tied on nine points with the 5th-placed Bordeaux, six points behind the current leaders Paris Saint Germain. Similar to their Saturday’s opponents, Caen have also struggled to find the back of the net in this early part of the season as they have only netted five goals in five rounds. All of their goals have been scored by five different players, although that Ronny Rodelin has also helped the team with one assist. Caen can count on their recent away form as they have only lost once in their last five games across all competitions, scoring at least once in four of these. Furthermore, Caen have picked up victories in three of their last five visits to the Stade de la Beaujoire - Louis Fonteneau, scoring at least two goals in each of these.
Caen Team News
Jeff Louis is a doubt, but Ismael Diomande is out through a hamstring injury. In addition, Adama Mbengue is missing through suspension. The good news is that Nicolas Seube, Mouhamadou Dabo and Herve Bazile are all back in training.
