NAC Breda vs Sparta Rotterdam Match Prediction

By Marius Hrebenciuc

NAC Breda and Sparta Rotterdam will be facing each other at the Rat Verlegh Stadion on Friday evening, with both sides still searching for their first victory of the new Eredivisie campaign. NAC Breda suffered a 1-4 home loss at the hands of PSV Eindhoven last weekend with their consolation goal being scored by Thierry Ambrose from the spot just before halftime. On the other hand, Sparta Rotterdam fought back from one-goal down to secure a 1-1 home draw against PEC Zwolle thanks to a 23rd-minute equalizer from Robert Muhren. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news and match stats all in our SBAT preview.

Betting Predictions and Tips

Both sides have looked poor going forward in this early part of the new Eredivisie campaign, and that’s why I’m expecting a low-scoring affair. However, NAC Breda should be able to grab a positive result in this one as they have played against much stronger opponents than Sparta Rotterdam so far this season. In addition, Breda are undefeated in their eleven home meetings with Sparta Rotterdam across all competitions, winning seven in this term.

NAC Breda Preview

NAC Breda lost 1-4 at home against PSV Eindhoven last weekend, despite the fact that they managed to level the score at 1-1 just before the break. They conceded three goals in the second half to register their second consecutive 4-1 defeat in this early part of the season. This leaves them at the bottom of the Eredivisie table due to the fact that they hold the worst defensive record in the division with eight goals conceded in two rounds. Their defeat against PSV was actually their first home loss in the last ten games across all competitions. Breda should feel confident ahead of this tie as they unbeaten in their eleven home meetings with Sparta Rotterdam across all competitions, winning six in the process. Head-to-head, NAC Breda are undefeated in their last seven games against Sparta Rotterdam, scoring at least two goals in five of these. NAC Breda have struggled at both ends of the field this season, but I think their main issue is in the final third. Actually, this was somehow expected after the departure of their last season’s top scorer Cyriel Dessers to FC Utrecht this summer, as the 22-year-old striker managed to score 22 goals for Breda in the Eerste Divisie last term.

NAC Breda Team News

Bart Meijers, Fabian Sporkslede, Bodi Brusselers, Chiro N’Toko and Robbie Haemhouts are all doubts ahead of this game.

Sparta Rotterdam Preview

On the flip side, Sparta Rotterdam kicked off the new season with a humiliating 3-0 defeat on the road at the newcomers Venlo in the opening round, but they looked a bit better against PEC Zwolle last weekend. The Rotterdammers fought back from one-goal down to secure a 1-1 draw against PEC, but they looked in control from the first whistle. This leaves them in 13th in the standings tied on one point with 12th-placed FC Groningen. Prior to their defeat on the road at Venlo, Sparta Rotterdam were on a six-game unbeaten streak across all competitions. The most worrying fact is that Sparta have failed to win in any of their eleven visits to the Rat Verlegh Stadion, scoring just five goals in the process. The good news is that Sparta have found the back of the net at least once in six of their last seven meetings with NAC Breda across all competitions. Similar to their Friday’s opponents, Sparta have also struggled to find the back of the net in this early part of the season, despite the fact that they still have their last season’s top scorer Loris Brogno within their ranks. The 24-year-old midfielder managed to score seven goals in 22 league appearances last term.

Sparta Rotterdam Team News

Roland Bergkamp is a doubt, but Janne Saksela is definitely out through a cruciate ligament injury.
