Motherwell vs Kilmarnock Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Motherwell made it to the quarter-finals of the Scottish FA Cup after a 2-0 victory over Dundee. This was the second consecutive victory by the same score for Steve Robinson’s team. Craig Tanner opened the scoring in the first half, while an own goal from Kevin Holt was able to secure a comfortable win for Motherwell. Kilmarnock had a crucial 3-2 win over Dundee in the midweek SPL game. This game witnessed a lot of twist and turns, as goals from Sofien Moussa and Steven Caulker were able to cancel out the Eamonn Brophy’s opening goal. Kilmarnock had Gary Dicker sent off in the 59th minute to make things even worse. However, late goals from Kris Boyd and Iain Wilson secured a comeback win for Steve Clarke’s team.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Motherwell have been far more successful when it comes to recent outings against Kilmarnock, as they have four wins compared to the one managed by Killie. Kilmarnock have been superior in terms of form with four wins in the last five. Motherwell’s home form is also quite excellent with three wins in the last four. Draws have frequented the away matches for Kilmarnock and I would choose a draw. Kris Boyd has been in phenomenal form for the last two months. He has been unable to score in just two of the last nine appearances in all competitions. Despite Motherwell being relatively solid at the back, I would back Kris Boyd to score anytime.

Draw – 23/10

Kris Boyd to score anytime – 7/4

Motherwell saw over 1.5 goals in 7 out of their last 10 games played

Kilmarnock have not conceded a goal in 60% of their last 10 games played

Motherwell Preview

Motherwell will be delighted at rediscovering the winning touch once again, as a string of three consecutive matches without a win was starting to threaten the team’s position in the top six places. Even now, the Motherwell outfit will have to depend on results elsewhere in order to stay in the top six but the position is certainly comfortable. Kilmarnock are level on points with Motherwell but have two games in hand. Hence, the gap could effectively become as much as six points and Motherwell would still have plenty of time left to catch up. Craig Tanner leads the scoring charts along with Ryan Bowman after having scored five goals.

Motherwell Team News

Robinson has George Newell (knee), Peter Hartley (foot), Ryan Bowman (knee), and Ellis Plummer (hamstring) unavailable due to injury.

Kilmarnock Preview

Kilmarnock have been going from strength to strength and the club are now in a position where they can even make a push for the top four places. Hibernian in the fourth place have a 12 point advantage over Kilmarnock, but this effectively could be down to just six points if Steve Clarke manages to see his team get victories in the two games in hand. The next couple of weeks could be a crucial period for Kilmarnock, as they have six matches lined-up in the next three weeks. Kris Boyd further extended his goal tally in the midweek and he is now up to 11 for the campaign.

Kilmarnock Team News

Steve Clarke will be without Steven Smith (back) and Alan Power (knee) due to injuries.
