Montenegro vs Denmark Match Prediction

By Marius Hrebenciuc

Montenegro welcome Denmark at the Stadion Pod Goricom in Podgorica on Thursday night, with both sides looking to close the gap at the top of the World Cup qualifying Group E table. Montenegro managed a hard-fought 1-0 home win over Romania last time out, with Stevan Jovetic scoring the winner with just 15 minutes to go. On the flip side, Denmark fought back from one-goal down to secure a 1-4 away win over Armenia thanks to a hat-trick from Thomas Delaney and another goal from Christian Eriksen. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news, match stats and odds all in our SBAT preview.

Betting Predictions and Tips

Both sides hold the same goalscoring record and dhave bagged 36 goals between them, they have also conceded just 14. I’m not fancying goals here as both have looked very well-organized at the back, the reverse fixture sore just one goal scored. I think that Montenegro are more than capable to maximise their home advantage and to secure a positive result in this one, as Denmark have only won two of their last ten away games across all competitions.

Montenegro Preview

Montenegro have had an impressive World Cup qualifying campaign so far, having lost just two of their eight group fixtures. Their most recent defeat was a narrow 1-2 home loss at the hands of the current group leaders Poland in March, but they have bounced back with three successive victories since then. Montenegro’s secret for their good performances throughout this campaign has been their solid defence, as they hold the joint-best defensive record in the group with just seven goals conceded in eight games. They have only conceded once in their last three qualifiers and managed to keep clean sheets in the most recent two. The Montenegrins currently sit in second in the group E table tied on 16 points with the 3rd-placed and their Thursday’s opponents, Denmark, and just three points adrift of the current group leaders Poland. At home, Montenegro have won three of their four qualifiers so far, keeping a clean sheet in two of these. Overall, they have lost six, won six and draw three of their last 15 home games across all competitions. Monaco’s striker, Stevan Jovetic, has been the standout player for Montenegro throughout this qualifying campaign, helping the team with seven goals and three assists in his seven appearances.

Montenegro Team News

The first day of training worked well for Montenegro and it seems they have no fresh injury concerns for this clash. Jovetic has only scored once for Monaco in four Ligue 1 appearances, but he is still the man to watch here after netting seven goals in seven appearances for Montenegro throughout this campaign.

Denmark Preview

Denmark, on the other hand, have struggled for consistency in the early part of this qualifying campaign, but they have improved considerably over the past year. The Danes are currently unbeaten in four qualifiers, winning three and drawing once in the process. They have been incredibly solid at both ends of the field recently, scoring eleven goals and conceding just twice in their last three qualifiers. During their recent run of form, Denmark managed an excellent 4-0 home win over the group leaders Poland, in a game in which they allowed the visitors to deliver just one shot on target. Away from home, Denmark have only won two of their last ten games across all competitions, but they are currently on a four-game unbeaten streak. Actually, they have only lost once in four away qualifiers so far. Head-to-head, Denmark have won one and lost one of their two meetings with Montenegro, although that loss came at home in the reverse fixture of this group back in October 2016. Christian Eriksen is the team’s topscorer in this qualifying campaign at the moment with six goals and three assists under his belt, while Thomas Delaney has also helped the team with four goals in his eight appearances.

Denmark Team News

There are no fresh injury concerns for Denmark ahead of this trip. Christian Eriksen was a doubt for Tottenham at the weekend, but he eventually played 75 minutes in Spurs’ 0-4 away win at Huddersfield in the Premier League.
