Monaco vs Besiktas Match Prediction

By Marius Hrebenciuc

Monaco are still searching for their first victory of their Champions League group G campaign when they welcome Besiktas at the Stade Louis II on Tuesday night. Monaco suffered a heavy 0-3 home loss at the hands of FC Porto last time out, in a game in which they delivered just one shot on target. On the other hand, Besiktas won 2-0 at home over RB Leipzig thanks to two first-half goals from Ryan Babel and Anderson Talisca. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news, match stats and odds all in our SBAT preview.

Betting Predictions and Tips

I’m fancying goals in this one as four of Lyon’s last five games across all competitions have seen more than three goals scored, while Besiktas conceded two goals in three of their last four competitive fixtures. In addition, each of Besiktas’ last three away games across all competitions have seen over 2.5 goals.

Over 2.5 goals at odds 4/6

Monaco to win at odds 4/6

Monaco saw over 1.5 goals in 10 out of their last 10 games played

Monaco have conceeded only 3 goals in their last 2 games against Besiktas

Monaco Preview

Champions League semi-finalists in 2016/17, Monaco started this season’s campaign in a disappointing manner, drawing 1-1 away at RB Leipzig and losing 0-3 at home against FC Porto. Prior to their memorable run to the Semi-finals last season, Monaco managed to beat Fenerbahce 4-3 on aggregate in the third qualifying round. The Monegasque’s form over the past month and a half have seen them win just two of their last seven games across all competitions. They have also struggled domestically of late, registering a 1-1 home draw against Montpellier and a 3-2 defeat away at Lyon. The good news is that Monaco have only lost once in their last six home fixtures across all competitions, scoring at least two goals in four of these. Their home form in the Champions League over the past two years has seen them lose just two of their last 12 fixtures. In addition, the Monegasque scored at least two goals in four of their last six Champions League home games. Radamel Falcao has been in fantastic shape throughout their Ligue 1 campaign so far this season, as he is currently the league’s topscorer with 12 goals under his belt. The good news is that the Colombian striker is back in the squad after being rested at the weekend.

Monaco Team News

Stevan Jovetic is a doubt, but Loic Badiashile is still missing through injury. The good news is that Pierre-Daniel Nguinda is back in training.

Besiktas Preview

Besiktas were never considered as contenders for a place in the knockout stages in a group with Monaco, Porto and RB Leipzig, but they looked amazing in the opening two rounds of this Champions League group stage campaign. They managed an impressive 1-3 away win at Porto in the opening round and followed this up with a 2-0 home victory over RB Leipzig on Matchday two. The worrying fact is that Besiktas are winless in the last three games in the Turkish Super Lig, conceding two goals in each of these. The Turks only sit in 6th in the Super Lig table, already eight points adrift of the current leaders and their eternal rivals Galatasaray. Away from home, Besiktas have only won two of their last five Champions League away fixtures. The bad news is that the Turks have lost on all four visits to France, conceding eight goals in the process. Last season, Besiktas finished 3rd in their Champions League group table, but did well to reach the quarter-finals of the Europa League before losing to Lyon. Ryan Babel and Cenk Tosun have been Besiktas’s most dangerous players in front of goal throughout their Super Lig campaign so far, as the pair bagged six goals and two assists between them.

Besiktas Team News

Gokhan Tore and Atinc Nukan are both out through injury, while Denys Boyko is a doubt.
