Minnesota United vs Orlando City Match Prediction

By Gary Gillles

Minnesota United would consider themselves unlucky to lose a second consecutive MLS game, as LA Galaxy grabbed a 2-1 win at the TCF bank stadium. Giovanni Dos Santos opened the scoring in the first half, while Christian Ramirez came up with the equaliser in the second. Ramirez inadvertently diverted the ball into his own net in the 84th minute. Minnesota, though, had a couple of goal-line clearances and they also struck the post. Orlando City’s poor form continued with a 3-0 thrashing at the hands of New York City at home. David Villa’s early penalty and Ross Wallace’s goal provided a commanding lead for New York. Cyle Larin missed a penalty, while Villa ensured three points with a late goal.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Orlando City’s away form is extremely poor with just one win in the five games. In fact, a string of away matches has led to the club’s excellent start to the season disappearing into thin air. Minnesota are reasonably strong at home after three wins in the last five games. Their only poor performance in these five matches was against San Jose Earthquakes. I would back a much improved Minnesota to get a home win.

Christian Ramirez has become Minnesota’s top scorer with seven league goals. He has scored six of these goals in the last 10 matches, including two in the last three games. I would back Ramirez to score anytime in the game.

Minnesota United Preview

Minnesota United would consider themselves highly unlucky not to have taken anything out of the last two matches – against Toronto and LA Galaxy, as they have played well in both these games. Home form is a major advantage for the club, who have managed three wins in the last five games at the TCF bank stadium. The club continue to await their first away win in the MLS. Minnesota have conceded just one goal per game in the last six matches, and it is a vast improvement from their record at start of the campaign. Christian Ramirez is the club’s top scorer with seven league goals.

Minnesota United Team News

Bernardo Anor (leg), Abu Danladi (groin), and Thomas de Villardi (Achilles) are the players unavailable for Minnesota United.

Orlando City Preview

Orlando City’s form has nosedived in the last five matches. After having been top of the table only a few weeks ago, Orlando have slipped into the play-off places following a run of five games without a win. Orlando’s last victory was almost a month ago towards the end of April. A major reason for this dip in form could be the string of three away games in the last five matches. Performance on the road is not Orlando’s strongest attribute, as the club has managed only three away wins in the last 12 months. Cyle Larin is the top scorer with seven league goals.

Orlando City Team News

Orlando City only have Kevin Alston (knee) on the sidelines.
