Millwall vs Reading Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Tuesday evening (19:45) game features two sides struggling in the bottom-half of the Championship table. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats. Millwall continued their recent good form with a battling point on the road at Preston which ended without score. The Lions did a good job of restricting their hosts to few clear scoring chances. Reading can consider themselves unlucky to have only come out of their home game with Hull with a point in a match they were on top in. The Royals needed an 87th minute Jon Daoi Bödvarsson goal to rescue something from the tie. These two sides have already met in the League Cup this season at the Madejski Stadium that game ended 1-1 after 90 minutes and 3-1 to the Royals after extra-time. The goalscorers in that game were Leandro Bacuna, George Evans and Sam Smith for the home team and Shane Ferguson for the visitors.

Betting Tips and Predictions

The Lions look a good play here to win the game as they have seen off Leeds and Norwich at their own ground in recent weeks both of whom I feel are better sides than Reading. The Royals have had a pleasant run of fixtures to the season yet are still near the bottom of the table. Under 2.5 goals looks a good play here as it has happened in six of the nine Millwall have played this season and in the four Reading away matches.

Millwall Preview

The Lions are in 16th place after nine games have taken ten points with eight of these coming in their last five fixtures. They have two wins, two draws and a narrow defeat to Wolves from their last five. At home, they have defeated Norwich and Leeds in their last two netting five times and keeping clean-sheets in both. Jed Wallace and George Saville have both netted twice in front of their own fans this season. Just one of their last three and three of their nine this season have gone over 2.5 goals. Nine of the 11 they have scored have come at their own ground while five of the nine they have shipped have done so at the Den.

Millwall Team News

Lee Gregory will miss the game through suspension.

Reading Preview

After eight games (one under what most have played) the Royals are on nine points. They are struggling for form with two points from their last three games and just one victory in the last five. On the road, they lost their first two matches but since then have taken four points from trips to Birmingham and Brentford. These matches have been low scoring with all four of them going under 2.5 goals. The Berkshire side have not found the back of the net in the first 45 minutes in the league this season. If the table was decided on results at the interval then Reading would be as low as 23rd.

Reading Team News

Callum Harriott continues his slow return from a hamstring injury while Mo Barrow (knee), Tennai Watson (knock) and Yann Kermorgant (hip) are all set to miss out.
