Millwall vs Queens Park Rangers Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Friday (29th) evening (19:45) fixture is a London derby between two sides in the bottom-half of the Championship. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats. Millwall picked up a useful point on Boxing Day as they battled out a 2-2 home draw with league leaders Wolves. Lee Gregory had given them the lead but a goal either side of half-time saw them chasing the game and they rescued a deserved point thanks to a Jake Cooper goal. QPR battled out a second successive draw as they picked up a point in a goalless draw with Ipswich on Boxing Day. The Rs were probably the better team but could not convert their chances and when Josh Scowen was dismissed four minutes from the end they were hanging on for a point. The reverse fixture in September at Loftus Road ended in a 2-2 draw with the Lions going two up through Conor McLaughlin and Jed Wallace before a Lee Gregory dismissal changed the game and the Rs rescued a point through Massimo Luongo and Matt Smith.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Millwall have won six of 12 at home this season while QPR have lost six of 12 on the road so the price on the home victory is close to what the odds should be so I would look elsewhere to find the value here. Both these sides are in the bottom third for goalscoring in the division and with this also having the added pressure of being a local derby this could be a tight game. Under 2.5 goals is priced short enough so take a little interest on under 1.5 goals and no goal to be scored before 31:00.

NO goal before 31:00

Under 1.5 goals in this game

Millwall saw over 1.5 goals in 8 out of their last 10 games played

Millwall Preview

It has been a mixed bag for the Lions lately with two victories, two draws and two defeats from their last six games. They sit in 16th place and none of their next three are against sides in the top eight. At the Den, they are in good form with two victories and two draws from their last four and just two defeats in their last ten. A remarkable 21 of the 26 goals they have scored this season have come at their own ground. Four of the last five Millwall have played have gone over 2.5 goals with two of these going over 3.5. Nine of the last 14 scored in their fixtures have come in the first-half with five of these coming in the opening 30 minutes.

Millwall Team News

Shane Ferguson (unknown) and Byron Webster (cruciate) are doubts.

Queens Park Rangers Preview

It is two draws in a row for the Rs and three games unbeaten as they keep a gap between themselves and the relegation places. They sit in 18th place and are eight points above Sunderland who currently occupy 22nd. Away from Loftus Road, they have managed just one victory all season though that came on the penultimate road trip while they also got a point at Ipswich last time. In four of their last five on the road they have failed to find the back of the net. The 26 goals they have scored this season gives them the sixth lowest ranked attack and they have scored just eight times in their last 11. Around 57% of the goals they have scored this have come in the second-half with 39% in the final 15 minutes.

Queens Park Rangers Team News

James Perch (dislocated kneecap), Joel Lynch (ankle) and Steven Caulker (unknown) are doubts. Josh Scowen will miss out through suspension.
