Millwall vs Preston North End Match Prediction

This Saturday afternoon (15:00) fixture features two sides in opposite halves of the Championship table. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.
Millwall booked their place in the last 32 of the FA Cup with a comprehensive 4-1 victory over Barnsley with a brace from Aiden O’Brien and one each from Ben Thompson and Fred Onyedinma. In the league, they last played on New Year’s Day losing 2-1 to Norwich at Carrow Road despite taking the lead through Steve Morison. Preston comfortably came through in the cup beating Wycombe 5-1 thanks to braces from Josh Harrop and Alan Browne (one penalty) while Daryl Horgan also netted. Their last league game came on January 1st and saw them lose 3-2 to Boro with their goals coming from Callum Robinson and Jordan Hugill. The reverse fixture between the pair came in September at Deepdale and the game ended in a goalless draw. It continues a head-to-head trend that has seen the Lions go four unbeaten against North-End.
Betting Tips and Predictions
Millwall have lost just three times at the Den this season while Preston have lost just three times on the road so calling a winner looks tough. It is best then to look at some of the other markets other than the win-draw-win one. Three of the last four for the Lions at the Den have gone over 2.5 goals while seven of ten on the road for the Lillywhites have also gone over and with this the bigger priced outsider of two options it looks worth a small interest. 29 of the combined 52 games these sides have played in the Championship this season have been all-square at half-time and this looks a good way to play this game by backing the draw at the interval.

Millwall Preview
It was a disappointing holiday period for the Lions who took just four points from the 12 available though they did manage a draw with leaders Wolves. They sit in 15th place but they cannot afford to relax as this is just six above the relegation zone. At the Den, it is five games unbeaten with three victories and two draws from these fixtures. Three of their last four in front of their own fans has seen both teams find the back of the net. Four of the last five Millwall have played have gone over 2.5 goals though for the season it is just 12 of 26 in the league. Steve Morison has now netted in his last two league appearances having gone all season without scoring.
Millwall Team News
Tom Eliott (unknown) is a doubt while Shane Ferguson and Byron Webster (both knee) are long-term absentees.
Preston North End Preview
It was a mixed festive period for the Lillywhites who won one, drew two and lost one of their four fixtures. They sit in ninth place with none of their next four matches against a side in the current top ten. Away from Deepdale, they are unbeaten in their last five with them collecting maximum points in three of these. The 14 goals they have conceded on the road is the joint-second best defensive record in the division. Four of the last five Preston have played in the league and six of the last eight have gone under 2.5 goals. Three of their last five and seven of their last 12 have seen one or both teams fail to score.
Preston North End Team News
Sean Maguire (hamstring), Tommy Spurr and Josh Earl (both knee) are long-term absentees while Eoin Doyle (illness) and Darnell Fisher (hip) are doubts.
