Millwall vs Blackburn Rovers Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Saturday early evening (17:30) fixture is live on Sky Sports and features two sides in the bottom-half as 19th plays host to 15th. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats

Millwall won their fourth straight in all competitions with an FA Cup Third Round defeat of Hull 2-1 thanks to a Shane Ferguson brace. In the league, they won their third consecutive game on New Year’s Day with a 3-2 defeat of Ipswich with Shane Ferguson (penalty), Jake Cooper and Tom Elliott getting a goal each.

Blackburn were six minutes away from a win at Newcastle in their cup match but had to settle for a replay with Bradley Dack getting their goal in a 1-1 draw. In the Championship, they picked up all three points on January 1st with a 2-1 home win over Wet Brom with one each for Charlie Mulgrew and Bradley Dack.

The reverse fixture came on August 11th at Ewood Park and it finished honours even in a goalless draw. The expected goals data from that day suggests that the Lancashire outfit were a little unfortunate not to win it.

Betting Tips and Predictions

The prices look about right for this with Millwall favourites given their home advantage through I could not be backing them here given injuries to key players like Shaun Hutchinson and Lee Gregory. Blackburn meanwhile have been poor on the road recently and I am not going to back them either.

I like a couple of players in the anytime goalscorer market with one selection each from both sides. Shane Ferguson is a big price for the Lions given he has three in his last two in all competitions which includes a penalty. For the visitors I like the look of Craig Conway who is recently back from injury and will be given licence to get forward from midfield.

Millwall Preview

The Lions have taken nine points from their last three to ease their relegation issues as they sit in 19th six above the bottom three. They face a kind run of fixtures with just one of their next five against a top ten side.

At the Den, the London outfit have won their last two and lost just one of their previous eight matches. The last two at home have followed a similar pattern with a goal in the first ten minutes and it ending 1-0 to the hosts.

Millwall have yet to add a player in the January transfer window but have been told that the cash raised for cup success can be used for this purpose. Ben Thompson and Fred Onyedinma have returned from loan spells and the club may wait until the end of the window to assess if they will go back out on loan.

Millwall Team News

Shaun Hutchinson (shin), Shaun Williams (ankle), Lee Gregory (hamstring) and Ben Amos (finger) are all doubts while Tom Bradshaw (knee) will miss the rest of the season.

Blackburn Rovers Preview

Rovers put a three-game losing run behind them in their last time out in the Championship through it is still just two wins in their last ten. They sit in 15th and have a nice spell with just one of their next six against a top-half side.

Away from Ewood Park, Rovers have picked up just two points from their last seven losing their last two. Charlie Mulgrew is in good scoring form on the road with three in his last two matches.

Blackburn have yet to bring a player in through the club have confirmed they are prepared to be patient and wait for their top targets with Ben Woodburn rumoured. Kasey Palmer had his loan cut short as he was not getting much playing time.

Blackburn Rovers Team News

Jack Rodwell (groin) is a doubt while Dominic Samuel and Ben Gladwin (both knee) have both been ruled out for the season. Richard Smallwood will miss out through suspension.
