Middlesbrough vs Swansea City Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Saturday afternoon (15:00) fixture features two sides in the top half of the Championship table. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats. Middlesbrough bounced back from their first defeat of the season with a comfortable 2-0 home defeat of Bolton. George Saville and Britt Assombalonga each grabbed a goal each in a deserved victory. Swansea will be looking to bounce back after going down to a narrow 1-0 loss to Stoke in midweek. The expected goals data suggests that the Welsh side can have few complaints as their unbeaten road run came to an end. These two sides were in different divisions last season so you have to go back to the 2016/17 Premier League season for their last meetings. The Welsh outfit have lost just one of their last six against the Teesiders.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Given their strong home form it is hard to see past Middlesbrough to win here though you will need to find a way to enhance the price. In three of their four home victories they have been ahead at the break and a the end so take them half/time and full/time. They have also yet to concede at their own ground this season so backing them to win to nil also appeals.

Middlesbrough Preview

It has been a good start to the season for Boro with five victories, two draws and one defeat from their first eight.  They sit second in the Championship table while the expected goals data has them in fourth.

At the Riverside, they have won all four games this season without conceding a single goal themselves.  A half time/full time result would have paid out for the Teesiders in three of four.

Middlesbrough have seen six of their eight go under 2.5 goals and they average just 1.75 goals per fixture.  None of their last seven and just one of their eight this campaign have seen both teams net.

Middlesbrough Team News

Rudy Gestede (ankle) is a doubt ahead of this match.

Swansea City Preview

The Swans have made a solid start to life in the Championship with three victories, three draws and two defeats from their eight.  They sit tenth in the Championship table while the expected goals data has them down in 22nd.

Away from the Liberty Stadium, they have done well winning two, drawing one and losing just once.  Ollie McBurnie has netted in two of his four league appearances on the road for the Welsh outfit.

Swansea have seen five of their eight go under 2.5 goals and they average just 1.63 goals per fixture.  Just three of the eight they have played this season have seen both teams find the back of the net.

Swansea City Team News

Jay Fulton (head), Tom Carroll (hip), Bersant Celina (ankle), Leroy Fer (groin) and Jefferson Montero (thigh) are doubts,  Martin Olsson (groin) is a long-term absentee while Courtney Baker-Richardson sits out the final game of his suspension.
