Middlesbrough vs Queens Park Rangers Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Saturday afternoon (15:00) game features two sides who have made decent starts to the Championship season. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats. Middlesbrough were extremely lucky to come away with a point from their trip to Villa after having Adama Traore sent-off after just four minutes. They battled well though it was naturally one-way traffic for most of the match even when Villa had a man themselves sent-off in the 64th minute. Queens Park Rangers found themselves up against ten-men against Millwall but they also found themselves two goals down. They fought back though and claimed a point thanks to a goal each from Matt Smith and Massimo Luongo. It is the London side who have dominated recent meetings between the pair winning five of the last six. Jamie Mackie has found the back of the net in two of the last six head-to-head clashes.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Given they just played 86 minutes with ten-men I would be loath to take Boro at those prices although they are a strong home side and are deserved short prices favourites to win this. QPR are not the kind of side who will fall away and they showed battling spirits in midweek against Millwall. Given that the North-Eastern outfit played 86 minutes in midweek a man short I like the Hoops to score at least once in the second-half and the second 45 minutes to be their highest scoring.

Middlesbrough Preview

After seven games the Teesiders have taken 11 points and sit in ninth place which is a decent start. They have won just one of their last four games though with four of their next six at home they will be looking to get back to winning ways. At home, they have won two and drawn one and in fact if you look at their previous time in the Championship it is now 12 undefeated at their own ground. These games have been low scoring in front of their own fans with three netted and none one conceded. Britt Assombalonga is their leading scorer this season netting four of their seven league goals. The North-Eastern side have conceded just three goals this season with all of them coming in away ties.

Middlesbrough Team News

Adama Traore is suspended while Martin Braithwaite (hamstring) and Rudy Gestede (thigh) are doubts.

Queens Park Rangers Preview

After being tipped to be battling relegation the Hoops will be delighted with the start that has seen them take 11 points from seven games and are in tenth place. They have taken four points from their last two though this marks the start of a tough run of ties that sees four of their next six away. On the road, they have struggled losing two and drawing one of three and they have not won any of their last ten if you are going into the last season. Five of their last six on their travels have gone over 2.5 goals with four of these seeing both teams find the back of the net. Matt Smith is their leading scorer with three league goals which have come in his last four appearances. The Rs have shipped nine goals this season with the 41st minute the average time of the first one conceded.

Queens Park Rangers Team News

Jordan Cousins and Joel Lynch (both hamstring) are doubts while James Perch (dislocated kneecap) and Grant Hall (knee) are missing.
