Middlesbrough vs Norwich City Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Tuesday evening (19:45) game features two sides that are in good form in the Championship. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats. Middlesbrough continued their recent unbeaten run with a 1-1 draw at Fulham last time out. They left it late to get their goal though as it took until the 88th minute to find a breakthrough and it was Cyrus Christie who scored. Norwich are also an unbeaten run and they also drew at the weekend as they were held 0-0 at home to Bristol City. The Canaries probably had the better of the chances but had to settle for a point. The last time these sides met at the Riverside Stadium was in November 2014 and Boro won that one 4-0 but the Canaries got their revenge in the play-off final at Wembley later in the season.

Betting Tips and Predictions

The prices on the match markets look about right with Boro probably the slighter better team and having home advantage though with that being said under they do not really appeal to me as they are struggling for goals. Under 2.5 goals is the recommend play as the home side have seen four of their last six in all competitions while the visitors have seen a total of just two league goals scored from their last four. Both teams to score also looks worth opposing given how strong the two defences are.

Middlesbrough Preview

Boro are in sixth place after nine games and things are starting to click together after a slow start under Gary Monk. They are unbeaten in five and have four wins, three draws and just one defeat from their last eight league fixtures. At home, they have beaten Sheffield United, Burton and QPR with Preston the only side to come out with a point. They have kept a clean sheet in three of their last four in front of their own fans. Britt Assombalonga has five goals for the season but has found the net just once in his last four games in all competitions. Around 64% of their goals have come in the second-half with 55% in the final 30 minutes.

Middlesbrough Team News

Martin Braithwaite (hamstring) and Rudy Gestede (thigh) are both rated doubtful.

Norwich City Preview

It has been a mixed start to life under new boss Daniel Farke for the Canaries and they sit in 13th place with 12 points. They have though picked up recently and it is two victories and two draws from their last four Championship fixtures. On the road, they have won their last two in all competitions but before that it was just one victory in 11 away matches. Nine of the 12 the East-Anglian side have shipped have come on their travels. 75% of the goals Norwich have scored this season have come in the second-half with 50% in the final 15 minutes. Their last four in the league have produced a total of just two goals.

Norwich City Team News

Nelson Oliveira was spotted training after the last Norwich match and could make a return to the bench here. Matt Jarvis (ankle), Steven Naismith (thigh), Alex Pritchard (ankle), Jamal Lewis (knee) and Louis Thompson (Achilles) are long-term absentees.
