Middlesbrough vs Accrington Stanley Match Prediction

By William Hall

Middlesbrough v Accrington Stanley Match Preview

Middlesbrough cruised past their opponents in the last round of the FA Cup, beating Sheffield Wednesday 3-0 at home. They will feel they have a tie that they should be winning, but with the side coming off the back of a 3-1 defeat to West Ham in the Premier League, they may find it hard to bounce back in time. Accrington Stanley are not having the best of seasons down in League 2, sitting down near the bottom of the table in 20th. They can take confidence from their last game, bagging themselves a point against 3rd place Carlisle. They will need to be on the top of their game if they are to get anything from Boro. Our SBAT preview will bring you a form guide, team news and betting preview.

Middlesbrough Preview

Middlesbrough are not having the greatest of seasons in the Premier League, but the important thing for them will be to stay up, and at this stage, they are doing enough. Stuani was the man to get Boro’s only goal in their last game which ended 3-1 to West Ham. He has been a good player for Middlesbrough this season, but is lacking the goals which many thought he was going to bring. Middlesbrough have been very good defensively this season, but have lacked the quality upfront. The loan signing of Calum Chambers has been great for the club, and I don’t think there's any doubt they will be looking to get him on a permanent deal come the end of the season. If they can add some quality going forward, they could be a much better side. Negredo seems to have gone quite this season, but if he can find his best form, he could really take this club places. He is a massive name and can thrive in this team.

Accrington Stanley Preview

Accrington Stanley have lost just one game in their last five coming into this one, which will fill them with confidence. However, they will have to be on the top of their game if they are to get anything from this one. They are currently struggling in League 2, hovering just above the relegation zone. They may feel that elimination from the FA Cup may help them league wise, but if they can go on and beat a Premier League side, it will give them a lot of confidence going into the rest of the season. Billy Kee has been in fine form this season, scoring seven goals for the club. He will be needed in this match massively because it is likely they will not get many chances, meaning when they do, they need to be put in the back of the net. It will be a very long game for the League 2 side, but there is no reason why they can not go out and produce a shock in this FA Cup Fourth round tie.

Middlesbrough Team News

Middlesbrough have five out for this game with Gaston Ramirez (knee injury), James Husband (shoulder injury), Antonio Barragan (hamstring injury) and Daniel Ayala (suspension).

Accrington Stanley Team News

Accrington Stanley have no players out for this game which is a huge plus.

Betting Predictions and Tips

Although Middlesbrough are not having the greatest of seasons in the Premier League, I still feel they have enough in their locker to be able to see off Accrington Stanley. However, if Boro go and play a weakened team, it could open up the door for the League 2 side to go on and get a result.
