Metz vs Monaco Match Prediction

By Marius Hrebenciuc

Monaco will be looking to continue their perfect start to the new Ligue 1 campaign when they travel to the Stade Saint-Symphorien to take on Metz on Friday night. Metz suffered a 2-0 defeat on the road at Bordeaux last weekend, with Philippe Hinschberger’s men conceding a goal in each half. On the contrary, Monaco managed a comfortable 1-4 away victory at Dijon thanks to a hat-trick from Radamel Falcao and a first-half goal from Jemerson. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news and match stats all in our SBAT preview.

Betting Predictions and Tips

This should be another comfortable victory for Monaco as the hosts don't seem to have what it takes to compete in Ligue 1 this season. Monaco should be able to score a couple of goals in this one as they have already netted seven goals in two league games while Metz have conceded five in this term. Monaco have won the last five meetings with Metz across all competitions, scoring 17 goals and conceding none in the process.

Metz Preview

Metz’s pre-season campaign has been a complete mixed bag with two wins, two draws and one defeat in their five friendlies. Metz managed somehow to stay away from the drop zone last term, but this should be a relegation-battle season as they have sold some of last season’s key players this summer and have failed to bring in any decent replacements. They kicked off the new Ligue 1 season with a 1-3 home loss at the hands of Guingamp one week ago despite the fact that they had the lead at halftime. They followed this up with another defeat as they were beaten 2-0 by Bordeaux last weekend. This leaves Metz only in 17th in the standings with no points to their name after two rounds, while scoring once and conceding five. Their recent home form has also let them down as they have only won once in their last nine home fixtures across all competitions. Furthermore, Metz have suffered defeats in each of their last four home league meetings with Monaco, conceding 14 goals while scoring just once in the process. Cheick Diabate and Mevlut Erdinc have been Metz’s top scorers last term, but they both left the club this summer. Their sole goal of this current campaign has been scored by the summer signing Nolan Roux in the opening round against Guingamp.

Metz Team News

Vincent Thill is the only doubtful player for Metz ahead of this tie.

Monaco Preview

After losing the French Super Cup trophy at the hands of Monaco towards the end of July, Monaco bounced back with two consecutive victories over Toulouse and Dijon in the opening two league fixtures. The good news is that Monaco carried their goalscoring form from the previous season into the new campaign as they already managed to score seven goals in two games. Radamel Falcao has been lethal in front of goal in this early part of the campaign as he is currently the league’s top scorer with four goals under his belt, including his hat-trick against Dijon last weekend. Even if some of last season’s best players have left the club this summer and even if there are some worries regarding Kylian Mbappe’s future at the club, Monaco looked sharp in their opening two fixtures, and it seems they are more than capable to challenge for the title. Away from home, Monaco have only lost three of their last 14 games across all competitions while winning ten. Furthermore, they have picked up victories in each of their last four visits to the Stade Saint-Symphorien, scoring at least two goals in three of these. Last season, Monaco beat Dijon both home and away, scoring twelve goals and conceding none in the process.

Monaco Team News

Pierre-Daniel Nguinda, Lacina Traore, Jordi Mboula, Gabriel Boschilia and Almamy Toure are all doubts, but Loic Badiashile is still out through a shoulder injury. The good news is that Adama Traore and Kevin N’Doram are both back in training following their injuries.
