Manchester United vs Wigan Athletic Match Prediction

Manchester Utd v Wigan Betting Tips and Preview

Manchester Utd v Wigan betting tips and preview. Manchester Utd host Wigan in the FA Cup at Old Trafford on Sunday 29th January 2017.  Manchester Utd’s long unbeaten run came to an end on Thursday, when they were beaten by Hull on the night but still made the EFL Cup final. Utd conceded goals either side of a Paul Pogba goal at the Kcon Stadium. Jose Mourinho will now have to put that cup final on the back burner now, as he will be looking to guide Utd into the latter stages of the FA Cup. Wigan have won back to back games for the first time the season with wins over Burton and Brentford. Wigan will think that Championship survival will be greater than the glamour tie at Old Trafford. The last time the two teams met in a competitive game was back in 2013 when Manchester Utd were 2-0 winners at Old Trafford.

Manchester Utd Preview

Manchester Utd’s home record is impeccable, as they are unbeaten in their last twelve games having won 7 of their last eight games. At the start of the season Mourinho had been getting some stick, but of late Mourinho has worked his magic on this Utd team. With a little bit of luck Utd could be higher up the Premier League table, the points Utd have dropped have been down to the opposition's players having the games of their lives. We think Mourinho will make changes for this tie, having only played on Thursday night and some tough looking Premier League games coming up Jose could rest some of his top stars. Wayne Rooney will be hoping to start after breaking the Manchester Utd all-time goalscoring record against Stoke. Manchester Utd have scored over 1.5 team goals in 100% of their last ten home games, so this looks to be a banker bet in this game. Utd will have to beware of Wigan as they have scored in 90% of their last ten away games.

Rashford to score anytime

Wigan Preview

On the road, Wigan have been a mixed bag, as they have won two, drawn two and lost two of their last six games. On the road, they have kept two clean sheets in their last two away games which will give them hope and belief that they can get something from Old Trafford this weekend. Goals have been hard to come by this season, Will Grigg and Yanic Wildschut have only scored nine goals between them in 25 games so far this season. Wigan will be hoping to try and keep the game goalless for as long as possible and maybe nick a goal from a set piece. Wigan boss Warren Joyce was the Manchester Utd un23 boss until Wigan came calling, so if Utd do make changes and blood some of their young talents, then Joyce will know them inside out having worked with them closely.

Manchester Utd Team News

Luke Shaw is back in training and could get some minutes under his belt. Wayne Rooney is expected to come in and start in the FA Cup this weekend. Other than that we will have to wait and see how many changes Jose makes.

Wigan Team News

Luke Garbutt is hoping to be fit following a back problem. Dan Lavercombe (hand) Kyle Knoyle(elbow) are both out this weekend for the trip to Manchester.

Betting Tips & Predictions

Manchester Utd are firm favourites in this game, and we expect them to win fairly easily. Jose has turned Old Trafford into a tough place, like the days of Sir Alex. Looking at the stats we like the look of goals and here are our betting predictions.
