Manchester United vs Burnley Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Manchester United were able to progress into the fifth round of the FA Cup after a 3-1 success over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium. Goals from Alex Sanchez and Jesse Lingard put United in a commanding position after 33 minutes, but Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang did threaten a comeback from the home team. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men were able to get a big victory thanks to Anthony Martial’s late goal. Burnley’s five-game unbeaten sequence came to a crashing halt with a 5-0 defeat against Manchester City. Gabriel Jesus came up with the only goal in the first half, but City were able to make it a rout in the second half after goals from Bernardo Silva, Kevin De Bruyne, Kevin Long (own goal), and Sergio Aguero (penalty).

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Manchester United have a 100% record under Solskjaer in all competitions and the pressure of maintaining this run will start to grow on the Red Devils. Burnley are unlikely to offer much threat going forward after having failed to score in four out of the last six away league matches. United’s defence has been breached in the last two matches but the Red Devils will be capable of tackling the physical threat offered by Burnley. Even without Burnley’s contribution, I would pick a Manchester United victory along with over 2.5 goals.

Alexis Sanchez has been in fine form over the last two games and he was able to score the opener against Arsenal. The return of the Chilean to form will be a huge boost for United. Sanchez also happens to possess a very strong record against Burnley after five goals in seven games. I would pick Sanchez to score anytime.

Manchester United win and over 2.5 goals – 8/11

Alexis Sanchez to score anytime – 1/1

Manchester United Preview

Manchester United have a perfect record under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who is increasingly becoming the ideal choice to become the permanent manager at the club. The Norwegian has managed to get a perfect record since coming as the replacement for Jose Mourinho. At the start of his tenure, the quality of the opposition was seen as a major factor behind a strong run of form. However, Solskjaer has proved that there is more substance to him by getting positive results against the likes of Spurs and Arsenal in the last few weeks. It only increases the confidence players have in Solskjaer.

Manchester United Team News

Marouane Fellaini (calf) is the only injury worry for United.

Burnley Preview

The humbling loss against Manchester City may deflate Burnley, who have been doing extremely well over the last few weeks. Apart from this poor result, there have been little issues for Burnley over the last few weeks. The result against City has the potential to be damaging for Burnley’s confidence levels, which has suffered immensely owing to a weak defence. Last season, the defence was a major factor behind Burnley having a successful campaign but the Clarets have the third highest defensive record in the division. Ashley Barnes is in the top scorer for Burnley but with only four league goals.

Burnley Team News

Jonathan Walters (Achilles tendon), Robert Brady (groin), and Aaron Lennon (knee) are unavailable for Burnley.
