Manchester United vs Burnley Match Prediction

By Marius Hrebenciuc

Manchester United are still hoping to close the gap at the top of the Premier League table when they welcome Burnley at the Old Trafford on Tuesday afternoon. Manchester United only drew 2-2 on the road at Leicester, despite the fact that Juan Mata scored a brace. Burnley, on the other hand, suffered a disappointing 0-3 home loss against Tottenham. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news, match stats and odds all in our SBAT preview. Feel free to visit our Bet of the day page to check our best daily tips.

Betting Prediction and Tips

Despite the recent struggle, Man United have been an impressive side on home soil this season, having won 14 of their 15 home fixtures across all competitions. In addition, the Red Devils are undefeated in their three home meetings with Burnley in the Premier League, conceding just once in the process. We fancy United to win and to keep a clean sheet here, as Burnley have struggled to find the back of the net recently.

Manchester United Preview

Manchester United have showed signs of weakness of late, having lost three of their last ten games across all competitions. They were beaten by Basel in the penultimate round of their Champions League group stage campaign, then they lost 1-2 at home at the hands of Manchester City in the Premier League. In addition, the Red Devils were recently eliminated from the Carabao Cup following a disappointing 2-1 defeat at the hands of Bristol City.  Furthermore, they threw away a 2-1 lead following a Juan Mata’s brace to only register a 2-2 draw at Leicester at the weekend, with the hosts scoring the equaliser in the stoppage time. However, Jose Mourinho’s men have been in a much better shape on home soil over the past five months, having won 14 of their 15 home games across all competitions. In addition, the Red Devils are undefeated in their three home meetings with Burnley in the Premier League, scoring six goals and conceding just once in the process. Overall, United have only lost once against Burnley in their six Premier League meetings, while winning three. Romelu Lukaku is a player to watch here as the is the team’s top scorer and he also provided a couple of assists for the team.

Manchester United Team News

Ro-Shaun Williams, Matteo Darmian and Chris Smalling are all doubts, but Eric Bailly, Antonio Valencia and Marouane Fellaini are all missing through injury.

Burnley Preview

Burnley have definitely been one of the biggest surprise packages of this Premier League campaign, as they currently lie 7th in the standings, just two points of the top five. They were on a four-game unbeaten streak across all competitions prior to their 0-3 home loss at the hands of Tottenham at the weekend. The most worrying fact is that Burnley have failed to score in their most recent two league outings. Actually, Burnley have only scored 16 goals throughout this Premier League campaign, which is the worst attacking record in top ten. The good news is that they have been very well-organized at the back in this term, having conceded just 15 goals in 19 rounds. Their recent away form have also been a problem as Burnley have only won twice in their last five league trips and have failed to score in three of these. In addition, Burnley are winless in their three visits to Old Trafford, scoring just once in the process. Chris Wood has been Burnley’s most prolific player in front of goal so far this season, helping the team with four goals in his 15 league appearances.

Burnley Team News

Robert Brady, Stephen Ward and Tom Heaton are all out through injury, while James Tarkowski is missing through suspension.
