Manchester United vs Arsenal Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Manchester United made it to the finals of the FA Cup after a 2-1 comeback victory over Tottenham at the Wembley. Dele Alli put Spurs in front after just 11 minutes, but the lead was wiped away by Alexis Sanchez in the 24th minute. A brilliant forward moved from United led to Ander Herrera’s second-half goal. Arsenal suffered a major setback in the Europa League semi-finals after drawing 1-1 with Atletico Madrid in the first leg. Despite creating numerous chances, Arsenal took the lead only in the 61st minute when Alexandre Lacazette scored from a header. Arsenal were helped by Sime Vrsaljko’s 10th-minute sending off. However, Atletico gained a huge advantage when Antoine Griezmann scored the equaliser – and the away goal – in the 82nd minute.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Jose Mourinho is likely to come up with plenty of kind words about Arsene Wenger, but the Portuguese will be absolutely determined to keep up his outstanding record against the Frenchman. Wenger has just two wins over Mourinho and his Arsenal team have a similarly poor record against Manchester United with a just one away win in the last six. I would back a win for Manchester United.

The late equaliser against Atletico once again highlighted the defensive issues for Arsenal, who have been involved in high-scoring games in six out of the last seven league encounters. Three out of the last five meetings between gunners and the Red Devils have ended up with more than 2.5 goals. I would back more of the same in this fixture.

Manchester United Preview

Jose Mourinho has brought Manchester United back on form in the business end of the campaign. Apart from looking forward to finishing ahead of Liverpool, United also have one eye on the FA Cup game against Chelsea. After having built up momentum with four wins in five games, the Red Devils will be keen to continue this flourishing form in the next three weeks. United are still not at their very best, as a number of players have been coming in with some disjointed performances. Alexis Sanchez is coming up against his former club for the first time.

Manchester United Team News

Sergio Romero (knee), Angel Gomes, and Antonio Valencia (muscle) are unavailable for the game.

Arsenal Preview

The Europa League game against Atletico Madrid epitomised Arsenal’s campaign, as the gunners were unable to take advantage of a significant help over the course of 90 minutes. Despite having multiple chances and a numerical advantage, the gunners failed to make it count and are now at a disadvantageous position with regard to reaching the Europa League final. However, the next couple of matches will provide a lot of focus on Arsene Wenger, who has decided to step down after more than two decades at the club. The Frenchman will want to go out on a high and the desire is bigger than ever before.

Arsenal Team News

Henrik Mkhitaryan (ligament), Gedion Zelalem (ligament), Mohamed Elneny (ankle), and Santi Cazorla (Achilles tendon) are unavailable for Wenger.
