Betting Tips and Predictions

City’s previous response to a defeat saw them win 2-1 awat to Manchester United, and I’m expecting a similarly strong response from Pep Guardiola’s men here, who got the better of Rafa Benitez’s side in their last meeting.

Manchester City Preview

Liverpool blew Manchester City away last weekend as the latter’s hopes of going the Premier League season unbeaten came to an end with a 4-3 defeat at Anfield. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain drove Liverpool ahead, but Leroy Sane equalised five minutes before the break. However, Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah all struck in an incredible nine-minute burst for the hosts, leaving City facing defeat in the face, and although Bernardo Silva and Ilkay Gundogan scored late on, the Reds held on for a huge win for their campaign. Despite the defeat, there is no reason for City to panic or chance what they have already been doing this season, with the quality of Liverpool’s performance proving just how good you need to be to beat this team. Unbeaten in their last 23 Premier League games at the Etihad Stadium, winning 10 in a row in doing so, City will be confident of their chances of picking up another three points here. Still leading the top of the table by 12 points, it will be interesting to see whether or not they turn their attentions towards any other alternative forward targets, with Alexis Sanchez set for a move to Manchester United. Sergio Aguero remains their only fit forward as they enter a run of five games in the space of two weeks, coming across three competitions.

Manchester City Team News

Benjamin Mendy (cruciate ligament), Vincent Kompany (calf) and Gabriel Jesus (knee) are all set to miss out once again for City.

Newcastle United Preview

Newcastle United’s clash with Swansea City was a result that ultimately helped neither side, after the two teams played out a 1-1 draw at St. James’ Park last time out. Jordan Ayew opened the scoring for the away side on the hour mark, only for the often-maligned Joselu to level it up eight minutes later. With the point, Newcastle remain three points clear of the relegation zone in 15th, though they will be frustrated at the fact a victory would’ve lifted them to 11th, proving just how tight the fight for survival will be in the coming weeks. Losing just one of their last six games in all competitions, Newcastle have responded strongly to their slump, which saw them lose eight and draw one of their nine games beforehand. That said, unlike those around them, transfer activity remains sparse at St. James’ Park, with the chances of them bringing in any significant signings looking even slimmer. Rafa Benitez admitted himself he is unaware of what his transfer budget is, as the club’s potential takeover continues to be negotiated by owner Mike Ashley. Winning back-to-back games away from home ahead of this next trip, Newcastle may well look to play City differently than they did in their previous meeting, which saw the Magpies fail to pose an ounce of threat to Guardiola’s men.

Newcastle United Team News

Defenders Jesus Gamez (ankle) and Florian Lejeune (foot) are both ruled out, while Chancel Mbemba (knee) and Aleksandar Mitrovic (back) are doubtful.
