Manchester City vs Manchester United Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Manchester City registered their biggest win of the campaign after a 6-1 victory over Southampton at Etihad Stadium. City took the lead through an own goal from Wesley Hoedt in the sixth minute, and they quickly increased the advantage with goals from Aguero and David Silva. Even though Danny Ings pulled one back from the spot, City ensured a huge win with further goals from Raheem Sterling, who grabbed a brace either side of the break, and Leroy Sane. City went on to get a 6-0 success against Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League. Manchester United were second best against Bournemouth but still came away with a 2-1 win at the Vitality Stadium. After falling to Callum Wilson’s early goal, United came back through goals from Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford. United became the first team to beat Juventus this season after a 2-1 success in the midweek Champions League action.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Manchester United have been able to prevent City from enjoying a joyous run in front of goal. In fact, United have been one of the few teams to prevent City from scoring a bucket load of goals. Over the last five meetings across all competitions, City have come up with only six goals against Manchester United. Jose Mourinho will set up his team so as to be hard to beat. I would pick under 2.5 goals from Manchester City.

All of the last three games for Manchester United have been with a 2-1 score. United do possess a never-say-die attitude but they are seriously lacking in quality compared to Manchester City. Guardiola’s City have been able to register several clean sheets in recent weeks, but United’s effervescence and desire for a goal could lead to both teams scoring in the game.

Manchester City Preview

Guardiola has seen his team register two big victories in back-to-back games, but City will be concerned about not being able to open up an advantage over the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea. The defending champions just have a two-point advantage with the season fast approaching December. City have been brilliant in almost every aspect and they have conceded just four league goals this season. Aguero is the top scorer for City with seven league goals.

Manchester City Team News

Claudio Bravo (Achilles tendon) and Kevin De Bruyne (ligament) are the players unavailable for Manchester City.

Manchester United Preview

Jose Mourinho has been at the centre of a storm after his reactions in the aftermath of the victory over Juventus. Even though Manchester United have been able to register three consecutive wins in all competitions, they have been undeserving of the success. The Red Devils have to show a massive improvement in all areas of the pitch so as to avoid falling further behind City, who already have a nine-point advantage in the table. Anthony Martial has emerged as the star within United ranks after scoring four goals in as many games.

Manchester United Team News

Romelu Lukaku (muscle) is doubtful for the game. Antonio Valencia (mouth) is also a slight doubt for the match.
