Manchester City vs Liverpool Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Manchester City quickly recovered from back-to-back losses by getting a 3-1 success over Southampton. The returning David Silva helped open the scoring after just 10 minutes, while the lead lasted only 27 minutes. Pierre Hojbjerg was able to rob left back Zinchenko and score the equaliser. However, two quick goals from James Ward-Prowse (own goal) and Sergio Aguero just before half-time put City on the path to a win. Liverpool were able to gain a foothold on the league title after a 5-1 success over Arsenal. Even though Maitland-Niles opened the scoring against the run of play, a hat-trick from Roberto Firmino was assisted by goals from Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane to give a huge win for Liverpool.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Liverpool step into the game with a seven-point advantage over Manchester City. The Reds will know that a victory in this match could effectively put them closer to the league title but a defeat can bring City back into contention. After having stayed unbeaten against City in the last four competitive meetings, Liverpool will be confident. The Reds may not play for a draw but the two teams are evenly matched and I would pick a stalemate.

The two teams happen to possess one of the best offences in the division. City are the only team to score more than 50 goals in the English top division this season while Liverpool are not far after having hit 48 goals. The two teams have been involved in plenty of exciting games over the years and I would back both teams to score.

Manchester City Preview

Pep Guardiola’s team bounced back from a set of back-to-back losses that have severely hurt their chances of defending the league title this season. City were able to create history last season by hitting 100 points but it is highly unlikely that the feat would be matched or improved this season. City may appear to have one of the best squads in the division by a huge distance, but few players like David Silva, Fernandinho, and Vincent Kompany are proving irreplaceable for the team. Raheem Sterling is the club’s top scorer with 13 league goals.

Manchester City Team News

Kevin De Bruyne (knock), Claudio Bravo (Achilles tendon), and Benjamin Mendy (meniscus) are unavailable for City.

Liverpool Preview

Liverpool are making an incredible case for the league title after winning nine consecutive games, which happens to be the longest streak of any team in the division so far. The Reds have come up with an unwavering domination owing to a defence that has conceded only eight goals. Liverpool were a powerhouse in front of goal last season and this characteristic has been replaced by a more disciplined approach in the 2018-19 campaign. Klopp has also made Anfield as a fortress over the last year and this has been a significant factor in getting the club to perform to the highest standards.

Liverpool Team News

Joel Matip (broken collarbone), Joe Gomez (leg), Dominic Solanke (muscle), Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (cruciate ligament), and Alberto Moreno (back) are unavailable for Liverpool.
