Manchester City Preview

There’s just no stopping this Manchester City side at present, as Pep Guardiola’s men romped to another convincing victory in the Premier League at the weekend, defeating Leicester City 2-0 at the King Power Stadium. Gabriel Jesus put the home side ahead just before half-time following superb build-up play from the City midfield, before Kevin De Bruyne’s thunderous strike from the edge of the box flew past Kasper Schmeichel from 25 yards. City look head and shoulders above every other side in the Premier League at this moment in time, finding themselves eight points clear of 2nd-placed Manchester United after 12 games as Guardiola looks to claim his first league title in England. Winning 16 in a row coming into this game, they are unlikely to accept the fact that they are already through to the knockout stages as a reason for a drop off in performance this time around. Winning all four of their Champions League games to date, they could be a real force in Europe this season and no side will want to draw them in the last 16, especially given how easy they’ve made progression look. Unbeaten in their last 12 home Champions League games - winning nine and drawing three - they will be expecting another victory on Tuesday evening.

Manchester City Team News

John Stones (hamstring) and Benjamin Mendy (cruciate ligament) are both ruled out for the home side.

Feyenoord Preview

Defending Eredivisie champions Feyenoord are still waiting to end their winless run after being held to a 1-1 draw by VVV-Venlo at home. It’s been an extremely difficult start to the season for the Rotterdam outfit, who dramatically won the title on the final day of last season, but now find themselves 14 points adrift of leaders PSV after just 12 matches. It did seem as if Feyenoord would be on for victory here when Nicolai Jorgensen put the home side in front nine minutes into the second half, but they were pegged back just four minutes from time as midfielder Damian van Bruggen ensured the hosts’ winless run was extended to four games. Feyenoord’s only win in their last eight games in all competitions came against fifth-tier side Swift in the KNVB Beker, with their last victory in the Eredivisie coming on October 1. That form, unfortunately for them, has translated to Europe this term, and they have already been eliminated from the Champions League with two games to spare. It continues what has been a dismal few years in the competition for the Dutch side, who have lost their last 11 in a row in this competition - a run that stretches back to October 2002.

Feyenoord Team News

Eric Fernando Botteghin (knee) and Jan-Arie van der Heijden (calf) are both ruled out for Feyenoord here.
