Manchester City vs Everton Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Manchester City suffered the first league defeat of the campaign after a 2-0 loss against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. N’Golo Kante came up with a goal against the run of play just before half-time and this changed the dynamic of the tie in the second half. A late goal from David Luiz made sure that City failed to match the Invincibles of 2004. City quickly recovered to beat Hoffenheim 2-1 in the Champions League despite having secured top spot in the group. Everton were able to muster a 2-2 draw with Watford at home after a late equaliser. Richarlison’s opening goal was cancelled out by a quick-fire double from Seamus Coleman (own goal) and Abdoulaye Doucoure. Lucas Digne, though, helped Everton pick up a second consecutive home draw.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Everton have been a bogey team from Manchester City in recent years. City have been able to claim only one league victory over Everton in the last five attempts, but this City team are best equipped than any other to overcome this poor run. City lost against Chelsea in the previous league match, but it required an almost perfect game from Maurizio Sarri’s team. It is difficult to expect the same from Everton – especially in an away match. I would pick a win for City along with over 3.5 goals.

The performances of Leroy Sane have been crucial in getting the best out of City at a time when the likes of Aguero and Kevin De Bruyne have not been available. Sane’s pace and ability to run behind the defence has been crucial in opening up opposition. I would back Sane to score anytime.

Manchester City Preview

Manchester City’s first league defeat of the campaign turned out to be a disaster for Pep Guardiola’s team, who have been almost perfect this season. However, they find themselves in the second spot owing to this defeat. The desire to get back to the top before Boxing Day will be quite high within the defending champions, who have a 100% record at home this season. Despite a strong squad, the absence of players like Kevin De Bruyne and Sergio Aguero is proving problematic for City – especially with Gabriel Jesus unable to find form this season.

Manchester City Team News

Sergio Aguero (hip), Fernandinho, Benjamin Mendy (meniscus), Claudio Bravo (Achilles tendon), David Silva (hamstring), Kevin De Bruyne (knee), and Alexander Zinchenko (broken nose) are now available for City.

Everton Preview

Marco Silva once again needs to get Everton on a winning track after managing just one victory in the last five matches. Just when it seemed that Everton would be able to mount together a push for the top six places, this setback has come about. Everton have struggled with a poor defence that has not been able to register any clean sheet – apart from the match against Cardiff – since the international break. There is also a heavy dependence on Gylfi Sigurdsson and Richarlison for the goals.

Everton Team News

Morgan Schneiderlin (leg), Jonjoe Kenny (knock), and Fraser Hornby (ankle) are unavailable for Everton.
