Manchester City vs Crystal Palace Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Manchester City came up with a solid 3-1 win over Everton to keep in touch with Liverpool at the top of the Premier League. Gabriel Jesus scored either side of the break to put City in a commanding position, but Dominic Calvert-Lewin grabbed a crucial goal for the Blues in the second half. City restored the two-goal advantage just four minutes later through Raheem Sterling. City then progressed into the semi-finals of the League Cup after a 4-3 victory on penalties over Leicester City, after the match finished as a 1-1 draw. Crystal Palace created history by winning for the first time in two years without Wilfried Zaha in the team, as they beat Leicester City 1-0. This dull match was brightened up by Luka Milivojevic’s long-range effort in the 39th minute.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Crystal Palace will fear for the worst when they travel to the Etihad Stadium after losing 5-0 in the last two visits to this ground. In fact, the last five meetings between these two teams at the Etihad Stadium have produced a 22-1 aggregate score in favour of City. Despite struggling in the midweek match against Leicester, City are expected to be back among the goals. I would back a win for Manchester City along with over 3.5 goals.

Gabriel Jesus is back among the goals and his brace against Everton was more confirmation of the same. Aguero returned to first-team action in the midweek game, but Guardiola is likely to keep the player fresh for the upcoming trip to the King Power Stadium on Boxing Day. I would pick Jesus to score anytime.

Manchester City Preview

Pep Guardiola will be concerned about his team’s inability to get a solid victory over Leicester City despite fielding a strong team. There will once again be rotation for Manchester City as the club gears up for a hectic fixture schedule. The return of players like Sergio Aguero and Kevin De Bruyne cannot have come at a better time for Guardiola, as they provide with quality options in the squad. City have been close to perfect throughout the campaign but the defeat against Chelsea has put them behind Liverpool going into the festive fixtures.

Manchester City Team News

Claudio Bravo (Achilles tendon), David Silva (hamstring), and Benjamin Mendy (meniscus) are unavailable for City.

Crystal Palace Preview

Roy Hodgson was relieved to see his team get a victory over Leicester City last weekend but this victory has merely papered over the cracks at Selhurst Park. Wilfried Zaha remains as the key offensive threat for the team and it was evident from the way Palace offered little in the game apart from the goal from Milivojevic. Palace are expected to bring in a forward in the January transfer window, but the club cannot afford to allow the results to slip into the red until then. Zaha’s absence from Leicester City is quickly expected to be forgotten with the winger making his return this weekend.

Crystal Palace Team News

Christian Benteke (knee), Wayne Hennessey (back), and Cheikhou Kouyate (knock) are unavailable for Palace.
