Manchester City vs Chelsea Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Manchester City enjoyed another rout of Arsenal, as Guardiola’s team managed a 3-0 win at the Emirates Stadium on Thursday night. Bernardo Silva’s stunning opening goal set the tone for the evening while City scored two more goals in the first half – through David Silva and Leroy Sane. Chelsea failed to build on a strong first-half performance and ended up losing 2-1 against Manchester United last weekend. Willian gave Chelsea a deserved lead after 32 minutes, but this advantage only lasted seven minutes as Romelu Lukaku scored against his former club. A second-half goal from Jesse Lingard led to a second consecutive defeat at Old Trafford for Chelsea.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Antonio Conte was visibly displeased with the contribution of Alvaro Morata against Manchester United. Hence, the Italian may switch to the same line-up that played against Barcelona in the first leg of the Champions League tie in the efforts to counter an incredible Manchester City team. The seven-day rest will be helpful for the away team, while Manchester City played only on Thursday night. Since 2014, Manchester City have managed just one home win over Chelsea. I would go with a draw, which looks highly attractive. Andreas Christensen has received a lot of plaudits for the way he has established himself in this Chelsea team, but he still lacks the top-level experience. City have an incredible 22 goals in the last six home matches. At the same time, the team has kept just one clean sheet at Etihad stadium. Players like Willian and Eden Hazard are in good form, and I see value behind backing both teams to score.

Manchester City Preview

Manchester City are close to becoming the champions after re-establishing the 16 point lead over Manchester United. This is a huge lead with only 10 matches left in the campaign. If the season progresses in the same pace, City could even seal the title in the first week of April. Guardiola is no stranger to winning titles with several weeks left in the campaign. The Spaniard, though, has been able to maintain an incredible level of professionalism within the squad, as City produced a comprehensive performance to beat Arsenal – just days after winning the League Cup.

Manchester City Team News

Kyle Walker (calf) and Raheem Sterling (hamstring) have still not recovered 100% for this game, while Fernandinho (hamstring) and Benjamin Mendy (cruciate ligament) are still unavailable for Pep Guardiola. Fabian Delph is suspended for the game.

Chelsea Preview

Antonio Conte has worked extremely hard for some excellent performances in recent weeks and the 1-1 draw with Barcelona was among the best games for Chelsea in recent months. However, the inability to sustain the strong performance for the 90 minutes against Manchester United has led to a huge disadvantage for Chelsea in the top four race. Spurs have been able to gain a two-point advantage after the weekend results, and this advantage could potentially increase further with Chelsea having a difficult away game against Manchester City. Eden Hazard is the top scorer at Chelsea with 11 goals, but Willian has been the club’s best player in recent weeks.

Chelsea Team News

Tiemoue Bakayoko and David Luiz remain on the sidelines with a calf and ankle injury respectively.
